Manchester Museum Marketing Coordinator

Manchester Museum are looking for a passionate and creative storyteller to join their communications and marketing team.

Winners of the European Museum of the Year Award in 2025, they're aiming to be the most inclusive, imaginative and caring museum you'll ever visit and the stories they tell are grounded in those values.

From the rich personal narratives of the South Asia Gallery to tales of adaptation and survival encapsulated in the amphibian species of the Vivarium, the new Marketing Coordinator will help to elevate a diverse range of voices and create even stronger emotional connections with audiences.

Later this year, the Museum launches its new, 10-year strategic plan so this is a chance to join a celebrated institution at a key moment in its history.

You will be responsible for:

  • Support the Head of Communications and Marketing in devising and delivering communication plans to agreed aims and objectives.
  • Support with the drafting and reformatting of written content and clear narrative for use across the Museum, in printed materials and on digital channels.
  • Support with developing, managing and uploading digital and web content on platforms such as the Museum’s Squarespace platform.
  • Proactively gather, create and publish content on social media channels and nurture a positive organisational reputation across key networks.
  • Support the management, production and scheduling of email campaigns, developing regular communications aimed at visitors, partners and key stakeholders.

About You

We welcome candidates who bring diverse perspectives, experiences, and approaches to their work.

We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in a range of communication methods, including web, social media, print, PR, advertising, email and end-to-end campaigns.
  • Experience with marketing automation tools, including email automation and workflows.
  • Experience with design software such as Canva and the Adobe creative suite.
  • Prior experience writing content briefs and working with external agencies.
  • Proven ability to craft compelling, SEO-optimised content across diverse formats.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Excellent copywriting, editing and proofreading skills and the ability to deliver well-written communications for digital and social platforms to a wide variety of audiences and across multiple channels.
  • Skilled in the creation of graphic, photographic and videographic content for use across a range of digital channels.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a large workload and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
