About the role
This role sits within the Sales team, reporting to the Sales Director. As a Marketing Development Representative, you will be an ambitious and driven sales professional looking to develop your career within a growing B2B technology business, playing a key role in driving new business growth for BigHand across the UK legal market.
The role is predominantly outbound, focused on proactively identifying, engaging and converting target law firms into qualified sales opportunities. You will build relationships with prospects within our defined ideal customer profiles, using research, insight, personalised messaging and consistent follow up across email, phone, LinkedIn and other channels.
You will also identify opportunities to introduce additional BigHand products into existing accounts, working closely with the relevant Account Manager.
Inbound interest is also an important part of the role. You will be expected to respond quickly, understand the level of intent and use good judgement to convert inbound interest into valuable sales conversations, particularly where speed is critical.
You will work closely with Account Managers on account strategy, prospect engagement and opportunity handoff, while partnering with Marketing to make effective use of campaigns, messaging and content.
You will also take responsibility for maintaining accurate and up to date data across your accounts and activity in the CRM, ensuring that Sales and Marketing have reliable information to support effective prospecting, reporting and decision making.
What you’ll do
- Partner closely with Account Managers on account strategy, prospect engagement, pipeline development and qualified opportunity handoff.
- Build and execute outbound campaigns against defined ideal customer profiles, considering law firm size, department and job title.
- Research and prioritise target law firms, accounts and personas, identifying the people and organisations most likely to benefit from BigHand solutions.
- Engage prospects through email, phone, LinkedIn and other appropriate channels, using a structured and consistent approach.
- Respond promptly to inbound interest, particularly where speed of response can influence conversion.
- Research prospects and accounts to personalise messaging and make outreach relevant and valuable.
- Work with Marketing to align outreach with campaigns, timing, messaging and relevant content assets.
- Qualify prospects using a defined qualification process, such as BANT, and ensure qualified opportunities are handed over with clear and useful information, applying the same qualification bar regardless of whether the opportunity comes from a new logo or an existing account.
- Identify cross sell opportunities within existing accounts for additional BigHand products, agreeing target accounts and approach with the relevant Account Manager before outreach, and handing over qualified opportunities for them to progress.
- Monitor outreach performance and refine messaging, sequencing and cadence based on data and results.
- Share market, prospect and customer insight with Sales and Marketing to improve targeting, messaging and campaign effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate and up to date account, contact and activity records in Salesforce, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of data across your accounts.
- Log prospecting and engagement activity accurately in Apollo and the CRM.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
