MARKETING DIRECTOR
Shoreditch, London | 4 Days Per Week in Office | Up to £150,000 + 30% Bonus + Benefits
Please note: This role is office-based four days per week in Shoreditch, London. Applicants must already have the unrestricted right to live and work in the UK, as sponsorship isn't available.
This is not a traditional Marketing Director role.
A creator-led media and technology business is looking for a Marketing Director to build the brand, content operation and marketing function behind its next stage of growth.
The business sits at the intersection of creators, media, technology, community and commerce, bringing together creator-led media, communities, products and proprietary technology within one ecosystem.
The opportunity is to help build one of the most recognisable brands in the creator economy. And that's why this isn't a conventional Marketing Director position.
This isn't about taking an established marketing strategy and optimising it. It's about working out what the brand should become, how it should communicate, what content should look like, how the team should operate and how the business can become consistently better at earning attention.
You'll be part brand architect, part content systems-builder and part marketing leader.
You'll define the positioning and narrative, build the systems that create the conditions for great content, understand what is driving audience behaviour and build the team required to scale it.
The culture is much closer to a high-growth technology company than a traditional media organisation: highly iterative, data-led and focused on building systems that allow creativity to scale. The wider business itself talks about using proprietary technology to replace guesswork with data-driven precision.
The Role
Build a Definitive Creator Economy Brand
You'll define what the business should stand for and how it should show up in the market.
You'll establish the positioning, narrative, tone and identity that make the brand distinctive.
You'll need to answer questions such as:
- What should the business be known for?
- Why should creators want to be associated with it?
- Why should audiences choose to follow it?
- What does the brand have a genuine right to talk about?
- How should it feel across social, video, digital products, events and community?
- How do you build a recognisable brand without restricting the creativity of the people within it?
You'll turn those answers into something the wider organisation can actually use. The brand strategy shouldn't live in a presentation. It should influence what gets created, who creates it, where it gets distributed and how audiences experience the business.
Build the Conditions for Content Success
You'll create the systems, processes and environment that give great content the best possible chance of succeeding.
The objective isn't to manufacture viral moments. It's to understand why they happen and how the business can learn from them.
A post goes viral. Why? What was different about the idea? What made people stop? What was the hook? Who shared it? Where did the audience come from? Was it the topic, format, creator, timing or distribution?
A podcast suddenly sees a huge spike in views. What caused it? Was it the guest? Something they said? A particular moment? An external event? A social clip? A change in audience behaviour? Or something completely unexpected?

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You'll build the measurement, testing and feedback systems that allow the team to answer those questions. The business already has access to sophisticated creator and audience data across platforms. The opportunity is to connect that intelligence to the creative process so that data doesn't simply sit in reporting dashboards - it improves what the team does next.
The aim is to create an organisation that gets progressively better at understanding:
- What worked.
- Why it worked.
- What we should do again.
- What we should do differently.
Be Genuinely Social-Native
You need to understand what actually works on modern platforms. Not theoretically. You'll understand that TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and other platforms have fundamentally different audience behaviours, formats and distribution mechanics.
You'll understand:
- Hooks
- Retention
- Watch time
- Shareability
- Formats
- Platform behaviour
- Community dynamics
- Creator-led distribution
- Trends
- Content packaging
- Audience development
You don't need to personally create every piece of content. But you need to know what good looks like. You'll be able to look at a piece of content and understand why it has potential. You'll also be comfortable looking at something that performed exceptionally well and asking: "Why?" Then turning that learning into something the wider team can use.
Build the Content Operating System
The business has access to an enormous amount of people, stories, ideas, expertise, conversations and audience insight. Your job is to create the operating system that allows the organisation to make the most of it.
You'll establish the processes and frameworks required to:
- Identify opportunities
- Prioritise ideas
- Plan content
- Test formats and narratives
- Measure performance
- Share learnings
- Identify patterns
- Improve output
- Increase consistency without killing creativity
This isn't about creating bureaucracy. It's about giving talented people the structure, information and feedback loops they need to do exceptional work repeatedly. You will build a marketing function that becomes better with every campaign, launch, episode, piece of content and audience interaction.
Build the Marketing Team
You won't simply inherit a finished department. You'll work out what the organisation needs and build it.
That could mean hiring specialists across:
- Social
- Content
- Video
- Editorial
- Creative
- Brand
- Growth
- Community
You'll understand when you need a specialist versus a generalist, what good looks like in each discipline and how those people should work together.
You'll set a high performance bar and create an environment where people are expected to test, learn, improve and produce exceptional work consistently.
The objective isn't to build a large team. It's to build the right team.
The Person We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who has built something before. The strongest candidates will have evidence of taking a brand, content operation or audience from one stage of growth to another.
You'll ideally have:
- Built or scaled a high-cadence content operation from scratch
- Genuine social-native experience across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and other modern platforms
- Defined positioning, narrative and identity for a brand
- Experience building content systems, processes and operating models
- A strong understanding of creators and modern audience behaviour
- Experience hiring and leading specialist marketing, content or creative teams
- A track record of turning content into measurable audience growth
- Strong editorial judgement and an instinct for what makes an idea worth pursuing
- The ability to move between high-level strategy and the detail of execution
- Strong commercial judgement and an understanding of how attention can become commercial value
- The ability to use data and insight without allowing data to kill creativity

We are not looking for someone who simply knows how to market content. We're looking for someone who understands how to build the environment, team and systems that allow great content to happen consistently.
Backgrounds That Could Work
The right person could come from:
- Creator economy businesses
- Social-first brands
- Media companies
- Entertainment
- Publishing
- YouTube businesses
- Podcast networks
- Digital platforms
- High-growth consumer businesses
- Technology businesses with significant content operations
- Founder-led or personal-brand businesses
The sector matters less than the evidence of what you've built. Someone who has inherited a large team and optimised an established operation isn't necessarily the right fit. We're looking for someone who has created the strategy, built the team, established the systems and scaled the output.
You'll Thrive Here If You:
- Think like a builder rather than a campaign manager
- Understand what actually works on modern social platforms
- Have strong instincts around content and brand
- Can define a brand and translate it into everyday execution
- Build systems rather than relying on individual talent or heroics
- Are comfortable testing ideas and learning quickly
- Have high standards for creative output
- Can hire exceptional specialists
- Know how to balance creativity, audience growth and commercial outcomes
- Enjoy working in an environment where the playbook is still being written
- Are fascinated by why people pay attention to some things and ignore others
This Role Probably Isn't For You If:
- Your experience is primarily campaign management
- You've mainly managed agencies rather than built internal capabilities
- Your social experience is primarily strategic rather than genuinely hands-on
- You've worked within established brand guidelines without defining them
- You've never built a content operation or team
- Your experience is primarily paid media or performance marketing
- You're more comfortable optimising an established machine than building one
- You need an established team and established processes around you
Why Join?
This is a chance to build the marketing infrastructure behind a major creator-economy business from the ground up. You'll have significant ownership over the brand, content strategy, marketing operation and team. You'll be working across an ecosystem that spans creator media, community, products and technology, giving the Marketing Director a much broader canvas than a conventional media or brand role.
You'll also be working alongside technology and data teams, with access to increasingly sophisticated audience intelligence designed to understand content performance, audience behaviour and cross-platform growth.
And you'll be doing it within a culture that operates more like a high-growth technology company than a traditional media
