Marketing Director - Commercial Finance
Our client is a commercial finance broker supporting UK SMEs with funding for growth, working capital and cash flow. They are looking for a Marketing Director to take ownership of the marketing function and help drive the next stage of the business’s growth.
The role will have a strong digital marketing focus, alongside responsibility for the wider marketing strategy, brand and communications. They need someone who can set the direction but is also happy to get involved in the detail, understands how to generate quality enquiries and can demonstrate the commercial impact of their work.
Experience within commercial finance lending or broking would be particularly valuable. Hands-on knowledge of paid search would also be a strong advantage.
The role
You will work closely with the senior leadership and sales teams to develop a marketing strategy that attracts new customers, improves conversion and supports repeat business.
This is a broad role with the opportunity to influence how the business presents itself, reaches customers and turns marketing activity into revenue.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Owning and delivering the marketing strategy, with a particular focus on digital acquisition and lead generation.
- Managing the marketing budget and measuring performance against lead quality, conversion, acquisition costs and revenue.
- Overseeing SEO, paid media, website performance, content, email marketing and social media.
- Managing paid search activity through internal resources or external agencies, identifying opportunities to improve performance and return on spend.
- Improving landing pages and the online enquiry journey to increase conversion.
- Working closely with sales to understand which enquiries convert into funded business and using that feedback to refine campaigns.
- Developing CRM and email campaigns to nurture prospects, re-engage previous enquiries and encourage repeat business.
- Taking responsibility for brand positioning, messaging and consistency across marketing materials.
- Overseeing wider activity, including PR, partnerships, referral marketing, events and sales support materials.
- Managing and developing marketing resources and external agency relationships.
- Providing clear reporting and recommendations to the leadership team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
