Role Summary
The Marketing Director is responsible for shaping and executing Urban Outfitters’ marketing strategy across the UK and Europe. This role leads brand positioning, campaign development, and customer engagement initiatives to drive awareness, cultural relevance, and sales growth. It combines strategic vision with hands-on delivery, ensuring marketing efforts resonate with diverse international audiences while aligning with the brand’s creative and commercial goals.
What You'll Be Doing
Strategy Development and Execution
- Help drive the brand strategy and positioning to grow UO’s addressable audience in Europe with a vision on growing brand awareness and driving sales for proprietary brands and all product categories.
- Execute annual, seasonal and monthly marketing strategies. This includes initial marketing concepts, goals and objectives, creative briefs, timelines and budgets.
- Support development of strategy cross-functionally to activate initiatives that connect the in-store and digital experience to advance Omni experience for customers.
- Work in close partnership with paid marketing and creative teams to deliver memorable campaigns that drive conversation, cultural relevance and have measurable business impact.
- Work cross functionally with web marketing teams to ensure total marketing budget used effectively.
- Own and drive all relevant marketing related KPI’s within the team and key stakeholders.
- Design and track core objectives, providing regular updates to MD, Creative Director and FD.
- Partner closely with finance to forecast, track and optimise the financial impact of brand marketing initiatives.
- Build in-territory nuance and segmentation for all international markets UO operate in.
- Champion the UO customer, ensuring our youth driven attitude comes across in everything we do.

Content, Talent Marketing and Partnerships
- Set and grow social strategy and partnerships for UO Europe.
- Build awareness and implementation of new content trends and editorial ideas as they relate to the Urban Outfitters brand and customer.
- Maximise GEO footprint through content and PR strategy.
- Integrate key profit and non-profit partners and local organizations that align with UO brand values into campaigns where appropriate.
Experiential Marketing
- Design and manage IRL events and marketplaces to drive cultural resonance including music performances, workshops, Q+As, branded partnerships, charity/community events and new store openings.
- Investigate the opportunity to optimise retail spaces by engaging with external partners to rent spaces to enhance brand experience.
- Develop UO rewards activations that acquire new customers and engage and retain existing customers.
Team Management
- Lead, develop and manage a large team who split across brand marketing, talent, social/content, partnerships, experiential and project management.

What You'll Need
Knowledge of Retail/Consumer Goods
- Depth of experience within a retail brand or creative agency executing high profile, impactful marketing campaigns.
Team Management and Leadership Skills
- Ability to mentor, direct and develop people in a positive and strategic way while nurturing creativity at all levels.
Strategic Mindset
- Ability to develop, design, drive and execute strategies in an agile and evolving manner.
Customer-Centric Approach
- Ability to recognize, forecast, and translate industry trend direction that supports and drives our connection to our customers.
Teamwork Skills
- Ability to establish and nurture professional relationships internally and externally, promoting collaboration and alignment.
Communication Skills
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) to effectively collaborate with partners across the business.
