Overview of the Role
This role at Nuveen is an excellent opportunity for someone who has at least 4-7 years of event management experience, including a digital and creative event skillset.
Sitting within the Nuveen Marketing organisation, this role will take direction from the Head of EMEA Events and ensure the smooth delivery of the events programme as part of the EMEA Events team.
The Nuveen Global Events team supports the EMEA corporate business at a macro level, while also supporting regional, franchise and fund specific strategies, working closely with Sales and Investment teams. The remit for this role covers the support of the EMEA region.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Manage Portfolio of Events
- Comprehensive Event Management: Oversee the full lifecycle of event planning and execution, ensuring seamless delivery from concept to completion for allocated events.
- Innovation and Expertise: Drive innovation within the events portfolio, showcasing proficiency in event production, vendor negotiations, contract management, logistics, and delegate coordination.
- Site Research and Contract Negotiation: Conduct thorough site research and develop proposals, negotiating and finalising all vendor contracts and onsite operational agreements.
- Performance Metrics and ROI: Establish event KPIs and measure ROI by tracking attendance and engagement metrics across live and on-demand content, integrating data into Cvent and Salesforce. Reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Third-Party Partnerships: Collaborate and contract with external creative and event organisers as needed to enhance event quality and impact.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Provide exceptional customer service to all stakeholders involved in the planning and execution of company seminars and proprietary events. Develop excellent relationships across levels of Nuveen employees.
- Manage relationships with industry bodies, preferred vendor partnerships and suppliers globally to maximise benefits and ensure relationship longevity.
- Global Alignment: Ensure strategic alignment and foster partnerships across global events and marketing teams, including APAC and US regions.
- Brand Integration: Work closely with the Brand team to ensure all events enhance our brand experience, from stand and roller banner designs to printed and digital literature and merchandise.
- Client Experience: Support the Events team in sourcing a variety of client giveaways to enrich the client experience with the Nuveen brand.
Strategic Planning and Integration
- Strategic Direction: Lead the strategic planning for allocated events, ensuring the successful delivery of a comprehensive range of in-person industry conferences, proprietary events and webinar programs.
- Cross-Functional Integration: Align event activities with the priorities of sales, marketing, and product teams to maintain consistent brand messaging and integrity across all campaigns.
- Brand Innovation: Identify and implement innovative strategies to enhance the presentation of the Nuveen brand at all events.
Budget Planning and Management
- Annual Budget ownership: Develop and maintain the annual events budget for allocated events, ensuring all financial planning is completed within designated timeframes.
- Budget Management: Oversee and manage event budgets within the scope of delegated authority, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Compliance and Reconciliation: Ensure strict adherence to budgetary guidelines, monitoring expenses and performing reconciliations for each event.
- Reporting: Deliver precise and timely budget reports through Cvent and master reports to stakeholders and leadership teams as required.

Project Management
- Successful Event Delivery: Execute all events effectively, tailored to the specific audience.
- Digital Platform Expertise: Possess in-depth knowledge of digital platforms such as Cvent, Salesforce, Microsoft Suite and their strategic role in event planning.
- Alignment with Strategy: Ensure all events align with Nuveen's standards and the local remit’s event strategy.
- Contribution to Objectives: Guarantee that all events support company objectives and overall sales and marketing goals.
- Event Prioritisation: Manage multiple events simultaneously, prioritising tasks to ensure 100% successful delivery.
- Transparent Communication: Maintain clear communication with partners, agencies, external clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure project transparency.
- Feedback Analysis: Collect and analyse event feedback promptly to enhance the quality of future projects.
- High Performance Standards: Set and uphold high performance standards for yourself and others, taking responsibility and accountability for the successful completion of projects or tasks.
Technical Skills & Qualifications Required
- 4-7 years Event Management experience
- Degree educated
- Qualification in Event Management or similar preferred
- Experience working across the financial services industries
- Strong knowledge of the full suite of Microsoft Office products, Cvent, Salesforce and Zoom
- 15-20% travel within UK and Europe. Some international travel may be required.

- Ability to assess and interpret complex information and synthesise key messages visually and verbally into marketing documents and other written materials
- Developed interpersonal skills including a proactive approach to resolving conflicts/ overcoming inefficiencies
- Able to think independently and challenge/escalate issues in a suitable manner.
