Marketing and Events Manager

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Marketing and Events Manager within the Masood Entrepreneurship Centre (MEC) on a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing maternity leave cover. MEC is The University of Manchester’s focal point for student entrepreneurship, enterprise education and early-stage venture support. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape how entrepreneurship is experienced, celebrated and promoted across one of the UK’s largest and most ambitious universities.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the planning, promotion and delivery of MEC's flagship competitions, events and marketing campaigns.
- Delivering high-profile events and campaigns that inspire students, graduates and researchers to engage with enterprise and entrepreneurship.
- Leading activity that raises the visibility of MEC, increases participation in our programmes and showcases the achievements of our student and graduate founders.
- Managing MEC's portfolio of flagship competitions and events, including the Venture Further Awards, Venture Builder Demo Day, Startup Weekend and Global Entrepreneurship Week.
- Overseeing all aspects of event planning and delivery, from concept development and stakeholder engagement through to logistics, promotion, evaluation and continuous improvement.

About You
We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:
Essential Criteria:
- Strong experience in marketing, communications, event management or related fields.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, engaging diverse stakeholders and delivering high-quality campaigns and events in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organised, creative and proactive.
- Experience of developing and implementing creative, multi-channel marketing campaigns.
- Ability to build relationships across the University and wider entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working with academic and professional services colleagues, the Students' Union, student societies, external partners and founders.
- Experience supporting entrepreneurship, enterprise education or early-stage venture activity.
- Experience delivering high-profile competitions, events or campaigns in a higher education environment.
