Marketing Executive

TJ Vickers & Sons Ltd, Telford
£30,000-£35,000 depending on experience
Full-time | Permanent | Site-based
Development pathway to Marketing Manager

Ready to take more control of your marketing career? If you’ve spent the last couple of years building broad marketing experience and are now looking for a role where you can really make things happen, this could be a great next step.

TJ Vickers is a long-established, family-owned automotive business operating across Telford and Shrewsbury. We represent a number of exciting vehicle brands and operate in a fast-moving retail environment where good marketing genuinely matters.

We’re now looking for a hands-on Marketing Executive to take ownership of our day-to-day marketing activity and help us build the function for the future.

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply be handed a list of social posts to schedule. You’ll be given clear priorities, real autonomy and the opportunity to see the commercial impact of your work.

You might currently work in a small agency, a compact in-house marketing team or a broad marketing role where you’ve had exposure to lots of different channels. You won’t need to be an expert in everything. What matters more is that you’re organised, commercially curious, confident getting stuck in and enjoy being the person who gets things over the line.

What you’ll be doing

Your role will be varied and fast-paced. You’ll help plan, deliver and coordinate marketing activity across both TJ Vickers sites, including:

  • Creating engaging organic social media content, including video and on-camera content
  • Managing day-to-day content across our social channels
  • Keeping website pages, offers and Google Business Profiles accurate and up to date
  • Delivering manufacturer marketing campaigns and adapting supplied assets for local activity
  • Helping develop TJ Vickers' own content and marketing asset library
  • Coordinating email and SMS marketing campaigns
  • Supporting CRM-led customer communications and targeted campaigns
  • Working with customer and lead data to understand what activity is generating response
  • Supporting paid digital campaigns across platforms such as Google and Meta
  • Organising and delivering sales events and promotional activity
  • Briefing and working with external agencies, designers and suppliers
  • Proofing artwork and customer-facing material carefully before release
  • Building strong relationships with vehicle manufacturer marketing teams
  • Monitoring campaign performance and helping us understand what is delivering commercial value
  • Working closely with Sales and Aftersales teams to ensure marketing activity supports real business priorities

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You’ll have external agency and specialist support available, so we are not expecting one person to be a designer, technical web developer, SEO specialist and data analyst all at once. We are looking for someone who understands enough across the marketing mix to coordinate activity confidently, ask good questions, spot problems and keep things moving.

What we’re looking for

You’ll probably have around two or more years of practical marketing experience, ideally gained in a role where you’ve had exposure to several different areas rather than specialising very narrowly.

You’ll be:

  • Confident creating organic social content and comfortable appearing or working on camera
  • Familiar with current social media platforms, content styles and trends
  • Digitally confident and comfortable learning new systems
  • Experienced in email marketing
  • A strong written communicator with excellent proofing skills and attention to detail
  • Highly organised and able to plan, prioritise and manage multiple deadlines
  • Able to distinguish a genuine priority from a distraction
  • Comfortable working in an environment where plans sometimes need to adapt quickly
  • Proactive, practical and happy to take ownership rather than waiting to be told every next step
  • Personable and confident building relationships with colleagues, agencies, suppliers and external partners
  • Commercially curious and interested in understanding whether marketing activity is actually working

Experience with CRM systems, website content management, campaign or event management, SEO, paid media or reporting and analytics would all be useful, but we don’t expect you to arrive knowing everything. Automotive experience would be welcome, but it is not essential. We are more interested in finding someone with the right marketing foundations, energy and attitude who can learn our industry.

Why this role?

This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who has built a solid marketing foundation and is ready for more responsibility without losing the hands-on work they enjoy.

You’ll be joining at a point where the business is actively investing in how it operates and how responsibilities are structured. That means you will have an opportunity to help shape the way marketing works rather than simply inherit a fixed job that has looked the same for years.

You’ll work closely with senior people in the business, have access to manufacturer marketing teams and external specialists, and gain exposure across digital marketing, CRM, customer data, campaigns, retail, events and commercial performance.

Most importantly, there is a clear intention for this role to develop.

The environment

Automotive retail moves quickly, so this role will suit someone who enjoys having a plan but doesn’t fall apart when the plan changes.

You’ll be trusted to manage your workload, make sensible decisions about priorities and ask for support when something genuinely needs escalating.

If you enjoy autonomy, clear direction and the satisfaction of seeing something move from idea to execution, you should enjoy this role.

Location and working pattern

This is a full-time, site-based position, primarily based in Telford, with travel to our Shrewsbury site when required.

Because the role is closely connected to our vehicles, people, customers and day-to-day business activity, it is not a hybrid position.

Salary is expected to be in the region of £30,000–£35,000, depending on experience and capability.

Appointment is subject to satisfactory references and evidence of the right to work in the UK.

Interested?

If you’re looking for the next step after gaining broad marketing experience and want the chance to take genuine ownership within a growing, established family business, we’d love to hear from you.

Please apply with your CV and tell us a little about the marketing work you’ve most enjoyed creating or delivering and why you’d like to work with us.
