I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About Midsummer
Midsummer Energy is one of the UK’s leading distributors of renewable energy systems, supplying solar PV, battery storage and heat pump products to thousands of installers nationwide.
We are also the creators of two innovative software platforms:
- Easy PV - advanced solar design software
- Heat Punk - heat pump system design and compliance software
Midsummer is one of the UK’s leading distributors of renewable energy systems, providing solar and heat products to thousands of installers across the UK. We are also proud creators of two cutting-edge design software systems, Easy PV for designing PV systems, and Heatpunk for designing heat pump systems.
Midsummer hasn’t always looked this way. We have evolved significantly since our MD founded Midsummer from his houseboat in 2005 with a focus on offgrid PV systems. As the UK solar industry has evolved, Midsummer also began supplying and installing larger grid-connected PV systems, before focusing on distribution and software design.
We have grown rapidly in recent years but our values have remained the same. We are fundamentally driven by a desire to make a positive impact in the world. This care for the environment has shaped the identity and culture of Midsummer since day one, and continues to unite our growing team and drive us to be the best at what we do. Midsummer is listed (No.15) in ‘Cambridgeshire's Top 100 companies’ in 2025.
We’re looking for a passionate marketing exec to join an award-winning renewable energy firm with a difference! You’ll be part of a small marketing team, reporting to the Head of Marketing, and be fully immersed in promoting our products, training and services, through which we support installers’ networks with the latest products to market.
