Marketing & Growth Director

London (hybrid, 3 days on site) | Up to £90,000 plus performance incentive | Permanent, full time

The organisation

An Ofqual-recognised apprenticeship end-point assessment organisation, backed by a well-known venture builder and operating from West London. They assess across business and leadership, data and AI, digital and IT, HR and L&D, and sales and marketing, supported by their own in-house platform that joins up onboarding, assessment administration, reporting and reporting visibility across the whole learner journey.

Strong delivery, strong technology, strong provider relationships. What they have never had is a marketing function.

The role

This is a newly created position on the Senior Management Team, reporting to the Executive Director with direct access to the CEO.

Apprenticeship assessment in England is being rebuilt while it is still running. Revised assessment plans are landing standard by standard, providers are actively reviewing who they work with, and there is a real window to win new strategic relationships before the rules settle. The business wants someone to own how it is positioned and perceived while that window is open.

This is not a demand creation role in the classic sense. The audience is known and finite. The challenge is standing out to it, getting in front of the right decision makers, and turning that into logged assessments and new provider relationships.

What you will own

  • Marketing and growth strategy end to end, turned into an operating plan, a budget and an investment roadmap
  • Positioning, segmentation, propositions and messaging across the business, its platform and its priority standards
  • Integrated programmes across thought leadership, PR, content, digital, events, roundtables, partnerships and account-based marketing
  • Executive roundtables and the conference and exhibition strategy, prioritising audience fit, speaking access and pre-booked meetings
  • Personal relationships with senior decision makers across providers, employers, colleges and sector bodies
  • The full lead process, so campaigns and events connect through to captured leads, qualification, follow-up and measurable progression
  • The marketing operating model, budget, calendar, governance and supplier network
  • Building the team. Headcount budget is in place and deliberately unspent, because they want the person in this seat to decide what the team should look like

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You will work as a peer to commercial leadership rather than above or below it. Marketing owns positioning, engagement and qualified demand. Commercial owns negotiation and conversion. Both own a healthy pipeline.

What they are looking for

  • Significant senior B2B marketing experience in a complex, relationship-led or regulated market
  • A track record of materially rebuilding a marketing function, not only running an established team and agency roster. Starting from nothing is not required. There is something here, it has simply never been the priority
  • Evidence of sharpening positioning and turning insight into campaigns, content and commercial outcomes
  • Experience marketing considered purchases with multiple senior stakeholders and long buying cycles
  • A genuine ability to build trusted relationships at senior level and hold your own in the room
  • Comfort across thought leadership, content, events, PR, digital and ABM, with the judgement to prioritise
  • Experience working credibly with executive teams, product, commercial, operations and technical specialists

They want someone autonomous, highly engaging, proactive, with a strong personality. Someone who will get out into the market and be visible rather than manage it from a desk.

Helpful but not essential

A background with a training provider, awarding organisation or EPAO would land well. So would education, assessment, SaaS, professional services or another regulated B2B environment. Sector depth matters less than the ability to learn quickly and earn credibility.

The package

  • Up to £90,000 depending on experience
  • Performance incentive linked to new providers and new assessments logged in the DfE portal
  • Senior Management Team member
  • Hybrid, three days a week in the West London office
  • Regular UK travel for customers, events and internal collaboration
  • Dedicated marketing budget set with the role
