The Independent Federation for Safeguarding is committed to promoting high standards of safeguarding, supporting professionals and organisations, and helping create safer environments for children, young people and adults at risk.
We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and organised Marketing Intern to support our communications and marketing activity and help us increase awareness of our work and impact.
The Role
As a Marketing Intern, you will gain practical experience across digital marketing, social media, content creation, campaigns and stakeholder communications.
You will work closely with the team to help communicate our mission, promote our services and initiatives, engage our audience, and strengthen IfS’s profile.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in marketing, communications, safeguarding, the charity sector or public-interest organisations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning and delivery of marketing and communications campaigns.
- Create engaging content for social media, newsletters, websites and other digital channels.
- Help maintain and update website content.
- Assist with social media scheduling, monitoring and engagement.
- Research relevant audiences, trends, organisations and sector developments.
- Support the creation of marketing materials, presentations and promotional resources.
- Help promote events, training, projects and IfS initiatives.
- Monitor basic marketing analytics and prepare reports on campaign performance.
- Maintain accurate marketing and communications records.
- Assist with email marketing and audience communications.
- Contribute ideas for new campaigns, content and ways to increase engagement.
- Ensure communications reflect IfS values and safeguarding responsibilities.

About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about communications, marketing or making a positive social impact.
- Creative and able to develop engaging content.
- A confident written and verbal communicator.
- Organised, reliable and able to manage deadlines.
- Comfortable using social media platforms.
- Interested in learning about digital marketing and communications.
- Able to work independently while also contributing positively to a team.
- Thoughtful and professional when handling sensitive subjects.
- Committed to equality, inclusion and safeguarding.
Desirable Experience
Experience with any of the following would be helpful, but is not essential:
- Canva or similar design tools.
- Social media management platforms.
- WordPress or another content management system.
- Email marketing platforms.
- Google Analytics or similar reporting tools.
- Basic photography, video or graphic design.
- Marketing, communications, media, business or a related subject.
