Job Purpose
As a pivotal member of our marketing team, the Marketing Manager will play an important role in executing the firm's marketing plans, working closely with colleagues to translate strategic objectives into effective operational delivery. Responsible for supporting the delivery of the firm's marketing strategy across the website, marketing technology, and data-driven initiatives, this role helps to strengthen the firm's market position, enhance client engagement, and contribute to measurable commercial outcomes.
The position is varied and fast-paced, requiring effective workload management and close collaboration with colleagues and external suppliers to deliver marketing projects on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will be confident, organised and capable of building strong working relationships with colleagues across the firm.
This is a hybrid position, based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, with travel to Aberdeen, Leeds and Inverness on occasion.
CORE TASKS
Digital marketing and content strategy
- Support the development and execution of the firm's digital marketing strategy, encompassing the website, CRM, SEO, GEO, and firm campaigns.
- Own the website roadmap, defining priorities for development, enhancement, and content improvements in line with the firm's brand, strategic objectives and user needs.
- Work closely with the firm's external web agency to deliver against the roadmap, briefing projects, reviewing deliverables, monitoring timelines, and ensuring quality and value for money.
- Drive ongoing website performance optimisation, using analytics, user behaviour data and insights to identify areas for improvement and measure the impact of changes.
- Coordinate the creation of high-quality, commercially relevant content that enhances the firm's profile and supports its business development objectives.
- Monitor and report on broader digital performance metrics, using data-led insights to refine campaigns and maximise return on investment.
- Provide input to firm marketing campaigns as required.
- Research and integrate new technologies and AI, digital trends and platforms to refine our approach.

Marketing technology and CRM
- Drive forward the firm's CRM strategy and set the direction for adoption across the firm. Work with the CRM Coordinator to oversee data quality and the use of CRM intelligence - embedding the system into everyday workflows, and providing the training, demonstrations, and one-to-one support that build capability and reinforce the importance of consistent, high-quality data.
- Play a pivotal role in advancing the firm's CRM strategy, working closely with Business Development, IT and legal colleagues to drive adoption and maximise the value of CRM across the firm.
- Work with the CRM Coordinator to strengthen CRM capability, data quality and the effective use of client and relationship intelligence, embedding CRM into day-to-day workflows through training, continued development and tailored support.
- Drive a culture of best practice by steering the development of practical use cases, case studies, and best-practice guidance that demonstrate how marketing technology and CRM deliver measurable value for targeting, business development and client relationships.
- Provide strategic insight on emerging marketing technologies, evaluating their potential and making the business case for investment that aligns with the firm's strategic priorities.
SEO and AI & Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO)
- Lead and shape the firm's SEO and generative engine optimisation (GEO) strategy, taking ownership of how website and blog content is developed and structured so that the firm's digital presence performs strongly and is effectively surfaced across both traditional and AI-driven search results and recommendation engines.
- Keep updated on AI developments in marketing, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, personalisation, and the firm's visibility.
Project management and delivery
- Manage marketing projects from concept through to delivery - developing clear project plans, coordinating resources, and maintaining reporting mechanisms to keep stakeholders informed - ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standard.
- Identify risks to project delivery and escalate issues appropriately.

Stakeholder engagement
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with lawyers and business services colleagues, providing reliable and responsive marketing support.
Analytics and reporting
- Monitor and report on website KPIs to assess effectiveness and ROI using GA4.
- Provide regular, actionable performance reports for ongoing improvement.
Team responsibilities
- Idea generation – part of a team responsible for suggesting future projects to keep the firm ahead of the curve.
- Team management - line manage and develop a team of four direct reports.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Minimum of eight years’ experience in a digital marketing role, incorporating website management, SEO, GEO and content marketing.
- Experience of leading and developing a high-performing team.
- Strong communication skills, experience in brand guardianship and tone of voice consistency.
- Ability to work independently and proactively and dedicated to ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
- Experience of managing external agency relationships, particularly in the context of web development or digital projects.
- Familiarity with marketing technology platforms, CRM systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics, InterAction, Salesforce, or equivalent), and marketing automation tools.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines.
- Flexible approach with the ability to seek out opportunities to provide a more efficient and proactive service.
- Understanding of data privacy regulations and their application to marketing technology products and data management practices.
- A data-literate approach to decision-making, with the ability to interpret analytics and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Confident and professional when engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
- A relevant professional qualification in marketing (e.g. CIM) is desirable but not essential.

- Creative mindset with the ability to think strategically.
- Strong analytical skills and proficient in GA4 and website CMS management.
- Experienced in stakeholder management, capable of positive influence and advising.
