Marketing Manager
Salary: £37,500 - £50,000 per annum
Location: Northallerton
Employment Type: Full-Time
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the North East's most established and respected motor retail businesses and play a leading role in shaping its next chapter of growth.
For an ambitious and experienced marketer, this is a rare chance to create a genuine growth engine within a values-driven organisation that is committed to continuous improvement and exceptional customer service.
Simon Bailes has built a strong reputation founded on customer service, trust, integrity and long-standing relationships. As the business continues to evolve, with new franchise opportunities, brand development projects and a new website strategy, we are looking for a talented marketing professional to help drive change and accelerate success.
This is far more than a traditional marketing role. It is an opportunity to build on a trusted brand whilst creating innovative marketing strategies that deliver measurable commercial results. You will have the freedom to shape the future direction of marketing across the business, developing campaigns that increase the sale of new cars, used vehicles and light commercial vehicles, while strengthening customer engagement and loyalty.
The Role
Reporting to the managing director initially, you will lead and deliver an always-on marketing strategy that drives awareness, customer acquisition and revenue growth across the dealership.
Working alongside internal stakeholders and external agency partners, you will develop consistent, distinctive brand storytelling that builds trust, showcases the quality of our customer experience and strengthens our market position.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
