Marketing Manager
We’re working with an established and growing multi-site consumer retail business to appoint an experienced Marketing Manager into a key position within its head office team. This is a broad brand, retail and omnichannel marketing role, suited to somebody who understands how to grow a business across both physical stores and ecommerce.
About the Role
This is an opportunity for a commercially minded Marketing Manager who enjoys combining strategy with hands-on delivery. You’ll take ownership of the wider marketing approach, working closely with senior leadership, ecommerce and operational teams to build a consistent brand and drive customer acquisition, store footfall, online conversion, retention and repeat business.
Importantly, this is not simply a digital or paid-media position. The physical retail estate is a central part of the role. You’ll need to understand what drives customers into stores, how different locations and customer catchments require different approaches, and how online and offline marketing can work together to create measurable commercial growth.
The Role
You’ll take responsibility for developing and delivering a clear, KPI-led marketing strategy across the business. Responsibilities will include:
- Developing the overall marketing strategy and campaign calendar across physical retail and ecommerce
- Translating commercial objectives into clear, measurable marketing plans
- Developing strategies to increase in-store footfall, store sales and online conversion
- Creating localised marketing campaigns across a multi-site retail estate
- Working closely with operational and store teams to understand customers, individual locations and local opportunities
- Connecting online and offline activity, including local promotions, customer communications and omnichannel initiatives
- Developing a consistent brand identity, tone of voice and customer experience across stores and digital channels
- Overseeing content across website, email, social media and in-store marketing materials
- Working closely with ecommerce colleagues across SEO, social, email, CRM, onsite merchandising and organic visibility
- Developing CRM, customer retention and loyalty activity to increase repeat business
- Using customer, store and performance data to identify commercial growth opportunities
- Setting meaningful KPIs across traffic, footfall, conversion, retention and ROI
- Reporting results and recommendations to senior leadership
- Managing the marketing budget with a strong focus on commercial return
- Reviewing campaigns to understand what worked, what didn’t and how future activity should improve
- Visiting locations across the estate where required to understand customer behaviour and ensure campaigns are being effectively delivered
- Building strong relationships across the business, from senior leadership through to operational and store teams

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Paid-media experience is useful, but is not essential. The focus is on building a strong brand and commercially effective marketing approach across the complete customer journey. This matches Jason's revised requirements much better: SEO, social, email and CRM remain important, while paid media is expressly secondary.
Experience within a regulated, age-restricted, advertising-restricted or sensitivity-adjacent consumer sector would be particularly advantageous.
The Opportunity
You’ll be joining an established consumer business with a significant physical retail presence alongside a successful ecommerce operation.
There is genuine scope to influence how marketing is approached rather than simply inheriting an existing calendar. You’ll have regular exposure to senior decision-makers and the autonomy to introduce ideas, improve existing activity and build a more structured, measurable and joined-up approach to marketing.
This would particularly suit somebody who has worked within multi-site retail and understands that successful marketing doesn’t stop at generating website traffic. You should be equally interested in what is happening in individual stores, what drives customers through the door and how brand, CRM, ecommerce and local marketing can work together to increase revenue.
The position is £50,000 per annum and based full-time at the company’s head office in Rotherham, with periodic travel to locations across the estate.
If you’re a commercially focused Marketing Manager with genuine experience across physical retail and digital channels, we’d be keen to hear from you.
