Are you a creative marketing professional ready to drive campaigns and protect brand excellence? Abingdon School has an exciting Marketing Manager opportunity!

Location: Park Road, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 1DE

Salary: £30,950 to £37,259 per annum

Job Type: Fixed Term Contract (one year, covering maternity leave from November 2026)

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (08:30 to 17:00)

Closing Date: 23 September 2026 (midday)

About Us:

The Foundation comprises two schools: Abingdon School and Abingdon Prep School, as well as Abingdon School Enterprises. Abingdon School is a leading independent day and boarding school with more than 1,000 pupils aged 11-18. Currently a boys school, it will become co-educational from September 2026.

Abingdon Prep School is a vibrant and warm day preparatory school with around 200 pupils aged 4-13 which has been co-educational since last year. Both Schools are situated in beautiful and extensive grounds, with the senior school in the heart of Abingdon on Thames, just south of Oxford, and the Prep School located a few miles away in nearby Frilford.

Marketing Manager - The Role:

As Marketing Manager, you will be the day-to-day contact for marketing operations across our Senior and Prep schools. Working closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications and a Digital Content Creator, you will drive strategic marketing campaigns, maintain website channels, ensure brand consistency, and manage stakeholder communications. You will balance campaign planning with website management, digital content oversight and performance analysis, while providing occasional out-of-hours support for critical emergencies.

Marketing Manager - Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute and monitor marketing campaigns promoting strategic objectives such as Open Days
  • Ensure brand consistency across the Schools and uphold brand guidelines with internal departments and external suppliers
  • Manage and update the Senior and Prep schools' websites, overseeing accuracy and structural effectiveness
  • Collaborate with the Digital Content Creator on visual storytelling, content scheduling and final sign-off of deliverables
  • Monitor digital and social media platform performance, providing strategic recommendations on emerging technologies
  • Maintain oversight of pupil image permissions and ensure all content complies with safeguarding and data protection procedures
  • Act as internal adviser to school departments on social media guidelines and best practices
  • Support the Digital Content Creator with event photography

Marketing Manager - You:

  • Proven experience in a similar Marketing Manager or Senior Marketing Executive role, ideally within education or commercial settings
  • Demonstrable experience managing website structures, tracking data analytics and working with digital content creators
  • Excellent understanding of multi-channel marketing campaigns, print production and digital advertising
  • Outstanding copyediting, proofreading and interpersonal skills with confidence communicating with stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR, data protection and child safeguarding rules regarding media use in schools
  • Committed to equity, diversity, inclusion and the protection and safeguarding of children and young people
