Birmingham (2 days per week onsite)

Salary: £40-45k

Fancy helping put Birmingham and the wider West Midlands firmly on the map? This is a brilliant opportunity for a talented marketing professional to play a key role in raising the profile of one of the UK's most exciting visitor destinations.

We're delighted to be supporting a high-profile regional organisation with a role that brings together destination marketing, creative campaigns and industry partnerships, all with a shared goal of growing the region's visitor economy.

You'll help inspire more people to visit, encourage them to explore everything the region has to offer, and support the businesses that make the West Midlands such a fantastic destination.

And that's where you come in!

You'll join the marketing team, working closely with colleagues across the organisation as well as a wide network of businesses, cultural organisations and industry partners. It's a varied role for someone who enjoys bringing people together, spotting opportunities and turning ideas into marketing activity that delivers real results.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What will you be doing?

You'll lead and support integrated B2C and B2B marketing activity, helping to build awareness, attract visitors and strengthen the region's destination brand.

Your role will include:

  • Planning and overseeing delivery of integrated marketing campaigns, from initial ideas and creative development through to activation and evaluation.
  • Spotting opportunities to raise the region's profile through major events, cultural activity, partnerships and emerging visitor trends.
  • Building strong relationships with partner brands – from arts and culture to hospitality and leisure, to develop collaborative campaigns and maximise opportunities.
  • Working with specialist colleagues to create engaging destination content and marketing campaigns that bring Birmingham and the wider West Midlands to life.
  • Supporting international tourism and travel trade marketing and events, alongside business events and conference-related activity.
  • Using audience insight, market trends and campaign performance data to shape activity and demonstrate impact.

There's a great mix of strategic thinking, creative campaign management and relationship building here. You'll need to be comfortable juggling several projects at once, working with a broad range of stakeholders and making the most of opportunities as they arise.

What are we looking for?

We're keen to hear from marketing professionals with experience across integrated campaign activity, ideally across both B2C and B2B audiences. A background in tourism, destination marketing, leisure, place marketing or the wider visitor economy would be particularly relevant but not essential.

You'll be a creative thinker with strong organisational skills, confident managing projects and building relationships across different teams and organisations. You'll also be commercially minded, comfortable working with data and insight, and able to demonstrate how your marketing activity makes a difference.

Just as importantly, you'll be proactive, collaborative and full of ideas. You'll enjoy spotting opportunities, making connections and working with others to achieve shared goals.

Interested?

If you're a marketing professional looking for a role where your campaigns can make a genuine difference to the profile and growth of a region, we'd love to hear from you.
