Marketing Manager
Location: Battersea Power Station, London
Salary: £45,000–£55,000
Reporting to: Head of Brand
Working pattern: Office-first
We are not here to blend in.
R4 Advertising is building a different kind of advertising business. Our Trade. Plan. Activate. model is challenging the established economics of media. We trade transparently, plan intelligently and return the commercial value generated through media to our clients.
The proposition is working. We are winning major clients, expanding our London operation and building a business with serious national and international ambitions. Now we need a Marketing Manager capable of making sure the market knows it.
The role
This is a hands-on role for a proven marketer who can combine commercial thinking, technology, content and execution.
You will work alongside our Head of Brand and content creators to build a marketing operation that gets R4 noticed, generates qualified demand and supports our continued growth. You will manage a marketing budget exceeding £500,000 and take ownership of the systems, campaigns and day-to-day activity behind the R4 brand.
One day you could be building an integrated demand-generation campaign. The next, improving a HubSpot workflow, briefing content, updating the website, preparing an award entry or analysing whether our investment is creating genuine commercial opportunities. You will need to think clearly, communicate brilliantly and execute relentlessly.
What you will own
- Deliver R4’s marketing strategy alongside the Head of Brand.
- Manage and optimise an annual marketing budget exceeding £500,000.
- Build integrated campaigns that generate awareness, engagement, MQLs and qualified commercial opportunities.
- Own the day-to-day operation of HubSpot, including campaigns, workflows, automation, segmentation, lead scoring and reporting.
- Manage integrations between HubSpot, our website and wider marketing technology.
- Maintain and improve the R4 website, including content, landing pages, conversion journeys and campaign tracking.
- Create a clear and measurable journey from first engagement through to MQL, SQL, opportunity and revenue.
- Work closely with the new business team to ensure marketing activity supports priority accounts and commercial targets.
- Build account-based marketing campaigns for the brands and sectors we want to work with.
- Coordinate the output of our Head of Brand, content creator and external partners.
- Turn R4’s client work, campaign results, people and thinking into content the industry wants to see.
- Help develop R4 Labs into a credible industry platform that puts our clients and their campaigns at the heart of the conversation.
- Manage our marketing calendar across content, campaigns, partnerships, events, PR and industry opportunities.
- Identify and coordinate speaking opportunities, roundtables and events.
- Write compelling agency, campaign and effectiveness award entries.
- Produce dashboards covering budget, channel performance, MQLs, pipeline contribution, conversion and return on investment.
- Keep projects moving, standards high and every commitment accounted for.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we are looking for
We want a marketer with evidence, not simply enthusiasm.
You will need:
- Proven experience delivering successful B2B marketing campaigns.
- Strong working knowledge of HubSpot, including workflows, automation, lead management and reporting.
- Experience managing substantial marketing budgets with clear accountability for performance.
- Evidence of generating qualified leads and contributing to commercial pipeline.
- A strong understanding of marketing economics, including CAC, conversion, attribution and return on investment.
- Experience managing websites, landing pages and digital conversion journeys.
- The ability to turn a commercial proposition into sharp, relevant marketing.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
- The confidence and presence to represent R4 in meetings, pitches, panels and industry settings.
- Experience coordinating internal teams, agencies and external partners.
- Exceptional organisation and attention to detail.
- The judgement to prioritise what will make a commercial difference.
- A degree or equivalent evidence of professional and intellectual capability.
Experience within advertising, media, technology, professional services or another ambitious B2B business would be valuable. A strong understanding of the advertising industry would be even better.

The person
You are intelligent, commercially switched on and deeply curious.
You understand that attention matters, but attention without commercial impact is just noise.
You can see the bigger strategic picture without becoming detached from delivery. You are as comfortable discussing brand positioning as you are interrogating a dashboard, improving a workflow or challenging a campaign that is not performing.
You do not need to be managed through every task. You take ownership, communicate clearly and finish what you start.
You have high standards, strong opinions and enough self-awareness to listen when someone else has a better answer.
You are ambitious for yourself, but equally ambitious for the business and the people around you.
Most importantly, you want to do work that moves an industry rather than simply filling another marketing calendar.
Your first six months
Success will mean:
- A clear marketing plan connected directly to R4’s commercial ambitions.
- A properly structured and measurable HubSpot operation.
- Agreed definitions and reporting for MQLs, SQLs, opportunities and pipeline.
- A visible, consistent and distinctive content programme.
- Integrated campaigns targeting the brands R4 wants to win.
- A stronger website journey with clear conversion points.
- R4 Labs operating as a credible platform for our clients, campaigns and thinking.
- A structured programme of awards, events and speaking opportunities.
- Clear evidence of what marketing is generating for the business.
Why R4?
Because the foundations are already here.
The proposition is distinctive. The clients are significant. The ambition is real. And our growing London operation at Battersea Power Station gives us a platform from which to take on the market.
What we need now is a marketer with the intelligence, energy and commercial discipline to turn that opportunity into momentum.
This is not a maintenance role.
It is an opportunity to help build the marketing machine behind one of the industry’s most ambitious challenger brands.
If that sounds like the kind of responsibility you have been waiting for, we want to hear from you.
