Marketing Manager - Richmond Rugby

Would you like to have Richmond Rugby, the Richmond Athletic Ground and a calendar of live sport, major events and community activity as your marketing environment?

This isn't a role where you'll spend your week managing one brand and scheduling social posts. You'll help shape how people experience Richmond Rugby, from discovering a fixture and buying a ticket, to arriving at the RAG, experiencing the match, engaging with the club and receiving that next communication in their inbox.

You'll be marketing men's and women's rugby, six senior and performance teams, Minis and Youth rugby, supporter membership, hospitality, venue hire and major events, from fireworks and outdoor cinemas to seasonal celebrations and everything in between. You'll have the opportunity to build the systems, audience insight, content and campaigns that bring all of it together.

We're not looking for someone to simply keep the marketing wheels turning.

There is a huge opportunity to improve how we understand our audiences, how we communicate with them and how we turn interest into attendance, membership, bookings and revenue. You'll play a significant role in shaping the future of ticketing, CRM, data and automation, helping the club move from broad communications towards smarter, more targeted and more personalised marketing.

You'll help create the campaign that gets people through the gates, then help deliver the experience once they're there. You'll see the content go live, work with sponsors and partners, capture the moments that matter and use the data and feedback afterwards to make the next one better.

Some days you'll be planning a campaign. Other weeks you'll be pitch-side, producing content with players, running live communications or helping bring the RAG to life.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You'll have the opportunity to shape:

  1. Brand, Strategy & Growth Own the marketing strategy, budgets, campaigns, audiences and performance, connecting marketing activity directly to attendance, participation and revenue.

  2. Rugby & Matchday Drive attendance, ticket sales, membership and the supporter experience across men's, women's and wider rugby. You'll help create compelling fixture campaigns, build matchday themes and offers, support ticketing and hospitality, and help make the experience at the RAG something supporters want to return to.

  3. Content & Audience Build Richmond Rugby's voice and digital presence across social, web, email and video. You'll work with players, coaches, volunteers and teams to tell the stories that make the club what it is, from first-team rugby through to Minis and Youth. You'll oversee content across the club's channels, including match previews and reports, interviews, player profiles, newsletters, campaigns, short-form video and matchday content.

  4. Events & the RAG Help position the Richmond Athletic Ground as a destination beyond rugby. You'll develop and deliver campaigns for major events, hospitality and year-round venue hire, generating enquiries, bookings and new revenue. That could mean marketing fireworks, seasonal events, celebrations or the many other opportunities that make use of the RAG throughout the year.

  5. CRM, Data & Digital Build a stronger understanding of our supporters and customers. You'll work across ticketing, CRM, analytics and digital platforms to improve segmentation, customer journeys and automation. You'll use data to understand what is working, where opportunities exist and how marketing can become more targeted and commercially effective.

  1. Commercial & Partnerships Work closely with the Commercial team and sponsors to create campaigns and activations that deliver value for partners and the club. You'll help bring sponsorships to life across digital, email, web, programme and matchday channels, while identifying opportunities to generate new commercial value.

This is a hands-on role.

We're a small marketing team, consisting of this role, supported by a Marketing Executive, so you'll need to be comfortable moving between strategy and execution. You'll work closely with our Rugby Department, Commercial, Operations, Community and Events, as well as sponsors, partners, photographers, volunteers, agencies, external suppliers and matchday freelancers. The role will involve some evening and weekend activity, particularly around senior team training, home fixtures and events.

We're looking for a marketer who combines commercial thinking with creativity.

You'll ideally have experience across a number of the following:

  • Marketing strategy and campaign planning
  • Digital and social media
  • Content creation and storytelling
  • Ticketing, membership or customer acquisition
  • CRM and email marketing
  • Paid social and digital advertising
  • Data, analytics and campaign reporting
  • Events and/or hospitality marketing
  • Sponsorship and commercial activation
  • Website and SEO management
  • Brand management
  • Managing agencies, suppliers or creative partners

This is an opportunity to join a small team and have a genuine influence on how Richmond Rugby and the Richmond Athletic Ground are seen, experienced and remembered.

If you want a marketing role where no two weeks look quite the same — and where you can see the impact of your work in real time — we'd love to hear from you.
