About The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Fixed Term Marketing Manager to join our Marketing and Communications Team in Glasgow/Hybrid. You will play a key role in developing, implementing, and managing the organisation’s marketing, branding, and supporting with the communications strategies. This position is responsible for enhancing Scottish Canals visibility, strengthening brand positioning and identity, promotion of attractions whilst supporting to build a strong customer experience. The role will support effective communication with stakeholders, partners, media, and the wider public. The role requires a creative yet strategic professional with strong organisational and leadership skills.

The role is offered on an 8 month Fixed Term Contract basis, working Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week.
Primary Responsibilities Of The Role
- Develop, implement, and evaluate integrated marketing campaigns to support organisational objectives.
- Lead brand strategy, ensuring consistency across all platforms, materials, and communications.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends and opportunities specifically linked to the marine tourism sector and visitor attractions.
- Manage the production of marketing materials (digital, print, events, campaigns).
- Provide dedicated marketing leadership, strengthen commercial and destination growth activity, improve accountability for campaign performance.
- Successfully plan and deliver multi-channel campaigns promoting and celebrating the Scottish Canals brand.
- Devise and deliver multi-year marketing plans to bolster marine tourism (boat transit licence sales).
- Lead on market research and the development of a marketing plan to support Scottish Canals’ ambitions to re-imagine the iconic Falkirk Wheel offering, delivering a new immersive visitor experience.
About The Reward
This role offers a progressive starting salary of £42,709 (Band E).
Scottish Canals offer a generous annual leave entitlement of 224 hours, plus 6 public holidays, along with enhanced sick pay, discounted shopping vouchers, health cash plan and a contributory pension scheme with up to 10% employer contribution.
About You
Qualifications and knowledge required:
- Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Full Driving Licence.
- Proven ability to design and deliver successful marketing and communication campaigns.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Creative with a results-driven mindset.

Skills And Experience Required
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving capability.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools, analytics, and content management systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- 5+ years’ experience in marketing, communications, or PR roles, ideally in a senior capacity.
- Experience in managing budgets and supervising staff or contractors.
- Experience developing and delivering integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
- Experience conducting market research and competitor analysis to identify commercial opportunities.
