Are you a strategic marketer who thrives on engaging influential, high-achieving individuals? Do you enjoy crafting tailored, relationship-led marketing approaches rather than mass-market campaigns?
The Better Futures Programme, hosted by the University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education, is seeking a part-time Marketing Manager to lead the marketing and communications strategy for one of Cambridge's most distinctive leadership programmes.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the growth and reputation of a programme that helps accomplished leaders turn a lifetime of achievement into meaningful societal impact. Participants join Better Futures at a significant career and life transition, drawing on the expertise, networks and opportunities of the Cambridge ecosystem to define their next chapter and the difference they want to make in the world.
The Role
Working closely with the Head of Marketing, you will develop and deliver a marketing and communications strategy that raises awareness and enhances the reputation of the programme. Your focus will be on attracting a diverse pipeline of outstanding applicants, providing the programme with the depth and quality of candidates needed to select an exceptional cohort. Success depends on understanding the motivations of a sophisticated, senior audience and being hands on in delivering targeted, insight-led campaigns that build trust, credibility and engagement.
Combining strategic planning with hands-on delivery, you'll lead marketing activity across a variety of channels, while managing specialist suppliers and freelance support. You will play a key role in expanding the programme's profile across the University ecosystem, working collaboratively across Collegiate and departmental networks to influence activity, align priorities, and drive coordinated communications efforts.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
