Role Overview

The Marketing Manager serves as the strategic link between brands, retailers, and the internal sales and marketing teams within the distribution business.

This role is responsible for planning, negotiating, and executing trade marketing initiatives that drive sales performance and visibility of games, hardware, and accessories across all retail and e-commerce channels.

The candidate needs to be able to demonstrate an understanding of the publisher marketing objectives and channel them into actionable retail plans, ensuring effective execution through promotional campaigns, in-store activations, digital placements, and data-driven insights that meet both publisher expectations and retailer needs.

As a Marketing Manager in a video games distributor, you are expected to be the central conduit of communication and execution between publisher ambitions and retail execution. Your success ensures that product reaches the right audience, at the right time, in the most impactful way possible.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Strategic Planning & Alignment

  • Develop and implement trade marketing plans that achieve the publisher brand objectives with retailer commercial goals.
  • Collaborate with publishers to understand product priorities, marketing assets, and launch timelines.
  • Translate publisher campaign strategies into executable retail and channel plans tailored for key partners.
  • Align closely with sales and category managers to ensure trade activities support sales forecasts.

Publisher Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary marketing contact for assigned publishers, ensuring their titles receive optimal visibility across the retail landscape.
  • Present and gain approval for trade marketing proposals, co-op funding, and promotional concepts.
  • Coordinate marketing calendars with publisher campaign timings and global release schedules.
  • Provide post-campaign performance reports and ROI analysis to publishers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
