Marketing Manager (14-month Maternity Cover)
An established and busy architectural practice in Manchester is looking for an experienced Marketing Manager to join the team on a 14-month maternity cover contract.
This is a varied, hands-on role covering marketing, business development, bids, and communications, working closely with senior leadership and an established marketing team. You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day marketing activity while helping to keep business development and bid activity moving across the practice.
The ideal candidate will have experience within architecture, construction, property, or the wider built environment, with knowledge of the North West market highly desirable. Experience of bids, tenders, and professional services marketing would be particularly beneficial. The practice is open to candidates looking for 3–5 days per week, making this an attractive opportunity for someone seeking either a full-time maternity cover or a more flexible working arrangement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
