The Role

We are looking for a Marketing Manager to lead the consumer, category, and channel agenda for our ‘out of home’ sector of our business, servicing the needs of our National chains/QSR, Casual dining, pubs and restaurant, coffee shop, and food to go channels within the UK and supporting European expansion.

Delivering key insights with engaging and compelling narrative and carrying out activities that strengthen customer relationships, deliver business wins, and create a competitive differentiation driven by our thought leadership.

You will report directly into the Head of Marketing for the UK & Europe at Newly Weds Foods and work alongside our marketing team who are responsible for our retail, manufacturing, and home meal delivery channels. Interacting daily with broader commercial, culinary, and R&D teams here in the UK, Europe, and global business to achieve business goals.

Key Responsibilities

PLAN: Create a clear vision, strategic priorities, targets, tactics, enablers, and a roadmap to win

  • Identify and communicate insights to support strategy creation across owned area.
  • Understand competitive positioning, identify, and deliver on opportunities that exist to deliver a USP for the business and our customers.
  • Working with commercial and culinary teams to develop executional plans to drive sales performance and achieve business goals. Informing budget priorities and focus.

ENGAGE: Anticipate and deliver against stakeholder needs, creating an enriched experience and commercial wins.

  • Anticipate needs of key customers to create a tailored and enhanced customer experience. Strengthening relationships and creating a competitive USP. Managing and delivering upon customer requirements in a timely manner.
  • Conduct tailored category reviews and presentations that position NWF as thought leaders. Drive and guide the development of new product listings by providing an insight-led positioning. Present in an engaging manner with clear narrative and storytelling that pinpoints the opportunity and supports new business wins.
  • Plan, attend, and participate in customer-facing and industry activities that strengthen NWF's visibility, credibility, and market relationship. Creating engaging marketing material. Managing operational assets and resources needed for relevant events.

INFORM: Establish compelling insight, influence decisions, and deliver with agility.

  • Monitor trends, consumer behaviors, competitor activity, category activity, cuisine, and ingredient culinary trends, use resources efficiently and effectively to capture and distill into an engaging format.
  • Combine with our broad insight intelligence to identify compelling insight. Demonstrate an understanding of market performance, consumer need, competitor, and culinary insights to guide the so what – tailoring your recommendations to the need of your customer and the end consumer.
  • Be the voice of the consumer across the business - a subject matter expert upskilling internal business functions along with external customers with engaging insights. Bringing 'data' alive through our marketing 'tool kit' - marketing digest, monthly reporting, videography, planned workshops, innovation sessions and presentations, site engagement forums, and other engaging activities that promote our thought leadership.
  • Work with our agencies to further optimize the use of insights tools, drawing upon content to inform category/customer recommendations. Making recommendations of suggested agencies to build our insight capabilities. Demonstrating how we have delivered a return on investment from our insight sourcing.
  • Identify, plan, and attend events and report back key learnings across the business with engaging content.

SHAPE: Shape forward-looking pipelines, through compelling insight, inspiration, and storytelling.

  • Work closely with our culinary and R&D teams to shape pipeline planning for the channel, categories, and customers. Identifying both short-term and long-term initiatives that will help the business to navigate risk, target opportunities, and inform future investment planning.
  • Provide clear compelling insights and prioritize focus – ensuring consumer needs are clearly understood, and competitor and culinary insights translated to pinpoint recommended product and category opportunities.
  • Present category visions and pipeline proposals and concepts in an engaging manner with strong storytelling.

GROW: Identify and embed tactics to optimize sales (via 4P’s), shaping and achieving customer/category goals.

  • Monitor and capture both market performance and customer and competitor activity within your owned area, tracking products changes, reviewing gaps, identifying trends, understanding product coverage, and promotion activity – reporting and sharing outputs in a timely manner to inform decision making.
  • Review performance data and share consumer and category insights to help inform sales tactics which will drive competitive positions. Providing recommendations to influence and shape 4P’s - product, price, place, promotion, and differentiate our customers vs their competitive set.
  • Translate strategy into execution. Identify ways and deliver upon agreed projects to deliver business objectives and grow the Newly Weds Foods brand.

LEAD: Be an integral member of the team, helping us to foster a culture of high performance through collaboration, efficiency, and inspiration.

  • Communicate effectively customer priorities for owned areas on a regular basis, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Challenge and evaluate requests in a timely manner to ensure projects are delivered optimally for all stakeholders, managing workflow for the channel/customer area.
  • Work collaboratively with commercial, culinary, R&D, and other stakeholders to deliver projects effectively and efficiently, ensuring high-performing outputs that deliver against business objectives.
  • Support the function in elevating the outputs of the function. Identifying ways to enhance and deliver both personal and team development and functional outputs.

Recommended Experiences and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field
  • 4-8+ years’ experience in FMCG, B2B Marketing, Customer Marketing, Food Service, Food Ingredients, Manufacturing, or related industries
  • Working as a Marketing Manager or experienced Assistant Marketing Manager with proven experience and ready for their next level of progression
  • Customer-facing experience – working with food service chains, retailers
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Sales, Culinary, R&D, Customer teams
  • An ability to translate data, trends, and insights and customer needs into relevant business recommendations and activation ideas
  • Strong communication, presentation, organizational, and collaborative skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Familiar with industry data and agency platforms
  • Desirable language skills to support European expansion
