Find out more about us and our mission by watching this short video (you will be taken to YouTube by clicking this link).

About the Role

We are looking for a talented and motivated marketing professional to join The Open University in Wales and help deliver engaging campaigns that support student recruitment and brand awareness across Wales. Working as part of our Marketing, Communications and Digital team, you will support the development and delivery of multi-channel marketing activity that helps connect prospective students with the life-changing opportunities offered by the Open University.

This is a varied and rewarding role, offering the opportunity to work across a wide range of campaigns and channels, collaborating with colleagues from across the University as well as external agencies and partners. You will contribute to campaign planning and delivery, help monitor and evaluate performance, ensure brand compliance, and use data and insight to support effective decision-making.

The role would suit someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, is passionate about marketing, and has a keen interest in delivering high-quality campaigns that achieve measurable results. As a 12-month fixed term role, it is an excellent opportunity to develop your experience within a respected organisation that makes higher education accessible to people across Wales. The role is hybrid with the usual weekly working pattern of two days at the OU in Wales office in Cardiff and three days working remotely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Assistant Director, MarComms Digital with the development and delivery of marketing plans and student recruitment campaigns that contribute to The Open University in Wales' student acquisition, brand awareness and business objectives.
  • Support the delivery and coordination of multi-channel marketing activity across digital and offline channels, working with internal teams, external agencies and partners to ensure campaigns are delivered effectively and to agreed briefs, timescales and budgets.
  • Monitor campaign performance, support the implementation of tracking and evaluation processes, and provide regular reporting to help optimise activity and return on investment. Conduct post-campaign evaluation and share findings and recommendations to support the planning and development of future marketing activity.
  • Use market intelligence, audience insight and performance data to aid decision-making on growth opportunities, helping ensure marketing activity meets agreed objectives.
  • Build positive working relationships across the University and with external suppliers, providing marketing advice and support to colleagues while ensuring all campaigns and marketing materials are consistent with Open University brand guidelines. Work with colleagues and agency partners to help ensure services are delivered to a high standard and that marketing activity is completed in line with agreed briefs, objectives, timescales and budgets.
  • Provide day-to-day line management support for the Marketing Assistant, overseeing the allocation and prioritisation of their workload, ensuring their work effectively achieves the required objectives, supporting their development and wellbeing, and contributing to the effective operation of the wider team.
  • Represent the Open University and the Marketing, Communications and Digital team at internal meetings, external events and stakeholder engagements as required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
