Role: Marketing Planning Manager
Location: York (Hybrid working, 2 days a week in the office)
Salary: £52,000
If you're someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity, improving the way teams work and influencing change, this could be the opportunity for you.
We're looking for a Marketing Planning Manager to play a pivotal role within our growing Marketing Operations team. You'll have a bird's-eye view across the entire marketing function, bringing together plans, budgets, performance and priorities while leading projects that make marketing more efficient, effective and commercially focused.
This is a newly created role with genuine scope to shape how it develops and the impact it has. Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, you'll help connect teams, improve ways of working and create greater visibility of marketing activity, performance and investment.
Approximately half of your time will be focused on driving operational improvement projects, while the remainder will be spent coordinating our integrated marketing plan, supporting budget management and ensuring leaders have the insight they need to make informed decisions.
You won't be running marketing campaigns yourself. Instead, you'll be the person who brings everything together, helping teams stay aligned, identifying opportunities to improve performance and ensuring we're focused on the activity that delivers the greatest commercial value.
As a business with a long history and a regulated environment, you'll need to balance the pace of change with the controls and governance that help us do the right thing. Success in this role will come from your ability to influence stakeholders, build relationships, challenge constructively and bring people with you on the journey.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
