Vertical Lift Sales Lead
Boeing’s International Business Development (IBD) team is seeking a highly motivated Business Development leader, to grow the Boeing Defence Space and Security business within the UK and European. This role will represent our Vertical Lift portfolio, and emerging opportunities within the Land domain; and will work closely with Boeing Defence UK, US, and European IBD teammates and colleagues across the enterprise.
This position will identify, qualify and advance sales opportunities with government and prime-contractor customers across UK as well as Europe, supporting capture teams by bringing in-depth knowledge of customer requirements and processes. The ideal candidate will be a credible external representative of Boeing with excellent stakeholder management skill, a deep depth of understanding of stakeholders’ priorities and able to lead cross-functional internal teams to translate customer needs into competitive proposals.
Travel: Typically, 40–50% within UK and with some travel overseas.
Position Responsibilities:
- Leverage resources and knowledge of Boeing products, services, processes and operations to support customer commitments, gain competitive advantage and foster business growth.
- Create, maintain and advance customer relationships to become a trusted business partner with multiple international customers.
- Represent Boeing at relevant shows, events and conferences across the region.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of customer business, culture, geopolitical environment, requirements and related topics to shape emerging customer requirements.
- Interface with customers and internal Boeing resources including Boeing Defence UK (BDUK), Boeing Global, Boeing Global Government Operations, Boeing Global Services (BGS), Communication, and Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) to keep all parties apprised of key issues and path to resolution.
- Lead, support and coordinate within a large group of sales professionals and subject matter experts who pursue sales and campaign activities through executing strategies and tactics to foster business growth with acceptable margins.
- Research, review and analyse publicly available information about competitors' products and services and leverage it to improve competitive position and to secure customer and vendor commitments on behalf of The Boeing Company.
- Coordinate Boeing’s European VL strategies and opportunities by leveraging in-country IBD and U.S. teammates to improve alignment and effectiveness and capitalize on emerging growth opportunities.
- Develop industry relationships at the appropriate level, as relevant for local collaborations in support of the BDS International Strategic Partnerships organization.
- Support business case analysis, develop and obtain authorization to proceed with campaigns to provide customer solutions.
- Assist in preparing proposals by developing themes and discriminators and reviewing the statement of work, cost estimates, executive summary and pricing from the customer's perspective.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Proven experience engaging directly with military/government customers with a demonstrated understanding of customers' organization, requirements, planning and procurement processes.
- Experience working with UK or international defence customers in shaping and developing requirements.
- Ability to travel internationally.
- 7+ years’ experience within the defence industry and/or military service.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience working directly with the UK Armed Forces and/or in the UK/ European aerospace industry.
- Experience leading aerospace (sales) campaigns.
- Demonstrated leadership skills of a seasoned sales or military leader, with the ability to lead the company to wins internationally, drive orders to closure and collaborate across a complex business.
- 12+ years’ experience within the defence industry or military service.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
