About the role

SmileyWorld Ltd is looking for a creative and proactive Japanese-speaking Marketing Assistant to support our marketing activities for the Japanese market.

Based in London, you will help manage Smiley’s Japanese social media presence and adapt global content so that it feels relevant, engaging and culturally appropriate for audiences in Japan. You will also support communication and coordination between Smiley’s Global Marketing, Asia Marketing and Japan business teams.

This part-time role would suit someone who understands Japanese social media, online trends and digital culture and enjoys turning cultural insights into engaging content.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day content schedule for Smiley’s Japan Instagram account.
  • Create, adapt and localise social content for Japanese audiences while maintaining Smiley’s global brand identity and tone of voice.
  • Write and edit Japanese-language captions and other short-form marketing copy.
  • Work with the Asia Marketing team to coordinate campaigns, content calendars and other marketing activities.
  • Support communication and coordination between Smiley’s Global Marketing and Japan business teams.
  • Monitor Japanese social media, cultural conversations and emerging digital trends.
  • Identify timely content opportunities, relevant creators, brands and potential collaboration partners in Japan.
  • Assist with basic reporting on content performance, audience engagement and relevant market insights.
  • Help maintain an organised content calendar and ensure agreed activities are delivered on time.

Qualifications and experience

  • Based in London and able to work in the UK.
  • Fluent Japanese and strong professional English.
  • A strong understanding of Japanese social media, online communities and digital culture.
  • Excellent Japanese writing skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.
  • Creative, organised and proactive, with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable communicating and collaborating with colleagues across the UK, Asia and Japan.
  • Able to manage priorities independently within a part-time working schedule.
