Job Purpose

Cogent Skills have an excellent opportunity in operating as part of an integrated central Cogent Skills marketing team, to lead the development and delivery of a marketing strategy and implementation plan for SIAS (Cogent’s end-point assessment and awarding organisation). The role will drive activity that directly contributes to business growth and support the expansion of SIAS’s customer base.

This position reports directly to the Head of Communications & Marketing and has a dotted line into the SIAS Head of Commercial, ensuring close alignment with SIAS’s strategic priorities and operational goals. The role will support activity across the full Cogent Skills portfolio, ensuring alignment with group-wide strategy while delivering tailored marketing that meets the needs of this key business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a marketing strategy and implementation plan for SIAS based on the strategic plan of the business unit, with key focus on business growth and brand salience, positioning and visibility
  • Work closely with the SIAS commercial team to support their objectives through lead generation and specific product campaigns
  • Lead on the organisation of the SIAS National Advisory Committee, webinars and other customer engagement activity
  • Develop a deep understanding of key business areas, customer profiles, and market dynamics, particularly within the end-point assessment and awarding space.
  • Identify, anticipate, and respond to the evolving needs of SIAS customers, using market insight and stakeholder engagement to inform marketing strategy and service development.
  • Lead market research to identify customer needs and preferences, and apply these insights to shape effective segmentation, targeting, and positioning strategies.
  • Lead the planning and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns that support SIAS objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to develop engaging content and marketing assets, including case studies, blogs, newsletters, social media, adverts, thought-leadership pieces, podcasts and website content.
  • Manage and maintain a marketing activity calendar, ensuring alignment across business units and timely delivery of campaigns.
  • Identify and coordinate regular opportunities for press/media coverage.
  • Develop and deliver targeted marketing materials and digital content that drive website traffic, generate leads, and support revenue growth.
  • Translate complex or technical information into accessible, audience-focused messaging that resonates with key stakeholders.
  • Monitor the external news agenda to identify opportunities to leverage the Cogent and SIAS brands.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key industry platforms, associations, and publications to enhance brand visibility.
  • Support internal teams with marketing expertise, tools, and guidance to ensure consistent and effective brand representation.
  • Act as a brand guardian, ensuring all marketing outputs are aligned with Cogent’s tone, values, and visual identity.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of marketing processes, tools, and performance measurement.

  • Growth in organic website traffic and social media engagement through effective campaign delivery.
  • Increased brand visibility across key industry platforms and stakeholder groups
  • Delivery of a consistent and coordinated marketing calendar.
  • Positive feedback from external stakeholders on marketing support and campaign outcomes.
  • Demonstrable contribution to lead generation, particularly in support of SIAS’s end-point assessment, accreditation and awarding services.
  • Evidence of marketing activity that anticipates and meets the needs of SIAS customers, contributing to customer growth, satisfaction and retention.
  • Successful development and delivery of SIAS’s marketing and communications strategy, including measurable outcomes such as campaign reach, engagement, and conversion.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Excellent IT skills (including all Microsoft Office applications.
  • A professional marketing or communications qualification.

Desirable

  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent qualification.
  • A management qualification.

Experience:

Essential

  • Extensive experience in a B2B marketing (agency or client side).
  • Experience in managing impactful and engaging communication campaigns, from creation to delivery.
  • Experience in writing and distributing media releases for trade publications.
  • Experience in producing content for social media channels in a B2B environment.
  • Experience in a education/skills setting or complex industrial setting.
  • Experience of supporting senior leadership within a communications role.

Skills / Knowledge:

Essential

  • Extensive experience in producing content, copywriting and social media.
  • Experience working in a fast pace, multi-stakeholder environment with the ability to turn complex language into the everyday.
  • Excellent grammar and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to think creatively whilst working under pressure.
  • Strong project management skills with great attention to detail.
  • Experience in using website CMS such as WordPress.
  • The ability to work with multiple stakeholders at senior levels

Qualities:

Essential

  • Ability to juggle priorities and work to tight deadlines.
  • Proactive - able to anticipate business requirements and media responses.
  • Highly effective networker with an influential and persuasive manner – not to mention first-class communication skills (written and verbal).
