Job Description: Marketing Strategist

We are a UK price comparison and switching platform covering energy, broadband, mobile, and SIM-only. We are a trading business that has just come through a full rebrand, and we are now scaling visibility, affiliate revenue, and online sales.

We are looking for a marketing strategist who already knows this industry. Someone who understands why the October price cap announcement is the single biggest content moment of our year, who knows the difference between a fixed tariff switch and an SVT rollover, and who can tell an FTTP lead from an FTTC one without checking.

This is a hands-on role. You will set the plan and you will ship it.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

Acquisition and Lead Generation

  • Own the full acquisition mix across organic, paid, affiliate, email, and social
  • Build and optimise lead generation across all four verticals, from first click to confirmed switch
  • Set and hold CPA and revenue-per-session targets by vertical
  • Run conversion rate optimisation on comparison journeys, quote forms, and results pages

Search and Content

  • Own SEO strategy: technical foundations, information architecture, internal linking, page templates at scale
  • Build topical authority across energy, broadband, mobile, and SIM-only
  • Own generative engine optimisation (GEO), making sure SwitchSquid is the source AI assistants cite when someone asks what the price cap means for their bill
  • Build a content calendar anchored to the regulatory year: Ofgem cap announcements, 1 October tariff changes, Ofcom mid-contract price rise rules, seasonal broadband and SIM refresh cycles

Affiliate and Commercial

  • Grow our supplier network across Awin and direct partnerships
  • Negotiate commission rates and tenancy placements with affiliate managers
  • Plan and run peak revenue windows, with Black Friday as the immediate near-term target
  • Report on partner performance and reallocate placement based on EPC and conversion, not on who shouts loudest

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Product Influence

  • Sit close to the product and engineering side and shape what gets built
  • Feed conversion insight, search demand data, and partner requirements into the roadmap
  • Influence page templates, comparison table design, filtering, trust signals, and post-click journeys
  • This is a real seat at the table, not a request queue

Brand and PR

  • Build SwitchSquid's voice as a credible consumer champion on household bills
  • Run digital PR and data-led campaigns that earn coverage and links from national and trade press
  • Position our spokespeople as the people journalists call when the cap moves

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Essential

  • Proven marketing experience in price comparison, switching, aggregator, utilities, telecoms, or broker environments
  • Direct commercial exposure to at least two of: energy, broadband, mobile, SIM-only
  • Demonstrable lead generation track record with numbers you can talk through, not adjectives
  • Strong SEO capability at strategy and execution level
  • Affiliate marketing experience, ideally hands-on with Awin, Impact, Partnerize, or CJ
  • Comfortable with analytics and attribution: GA4, Search Console, Looker Studio, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of the compliance environment: Ofgem, Ofcom, ASA disclosure rules, and affiliate programme terms
  • Commercially literate. You can explain how a marketing decision moves revenue
  • Self-directed. This is a fully remote role and you will be trusted to run your own week

Desirable

  • Experience with the Ofgem Confidence Code or the Ofcom accreditation scheme for comparison services
  • Paid search and paid social management at meaningful budget
  • CRO and experimentation experience with a structured testing approach
  • Email and CRM lifecycle marketing
  • Experience influencing a product roadmap from a marketing seat
  • Genuine, provable use of AI tools to accelerate output rather than to pad a CV

Not Required

  • Agency-side only experience with no in-house commercial ownership
  • A pure brand background with no acquisition responsibility

FIRST 90 DAYS

  • Days 1-30: Audit the current acquisition mix, SEO position, and affiliate portfolio. Present a prioritised gap analysis with sizing.
  • Days 31-60: Ship the October price cap content and campaign programme. Bring three new supplier programmes live or upgraded.
  • Days 61-90: Deliver the Black Friday commercial plan and have it live. Establish the reporting rhythm the business runs on from that point forward.

HOW WE WILL MEASURE THE ROLE

  • Organic sessions and non-brand keyword coverage across the four verticals
  • Qualified switch volume and completion rate by vertical
  • Affiliate revenue and EPC by partner
  • Cost per acquisition against target
  • Share of citations in AI assistant answers for core commercial queries

WORKING PATTERN AND PACKAGE

  • Fully remote within the UK, with occasional travel for team sessions and supplier meetings
  • Competitive salary, reviewed against experience
  • Performance bonus linked to affiliate revenue and acquisition targets
  • Small team, short decision chain. If you want a role where you can see your own fingerprints on the numbers, this is that role.

PROCESS

  1. 30-minute intro call
  2. Practical task: a one-page acquisition plan for a named vertical, presented back
  3. Final conversation with the MD and Technical Lead
  4. Offer

We review applications as they arrive and will close the advert once we have the right person.
