Legal Counsel | Regulatory Markets | London

Location: London
Salary: Competitive + Bonus + Benefits
WFH: Hybrid Model

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded Markets Advisory function, providing strategic legal and regulatory advice across a broad range of Global Markets products. You'll work closely with Trading, Compliance, Operations, and senior business stakeholders, advising on complex regulatory developments while supporting a dynamic and fast-paced business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on legal and regulatory issues relating to derivatives, repo, and securities lending.
  • Providing guidance on EMIR, UK EMIR Margin Rules, MiFID II, FCA/PRA requirements, and relevant US regulatory frameworks.
  • Supporting the implementation and interpretation of evolving regulatory requirements across Global Markets.
  • Advising on clearing arrangements, transaction reporting, and capital-related regulatory issues.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of market documentation, including terms of business and regulatory disclosures.
  • Partnering with internal stakeholders across Legal, Compliance, Front Office, and Operations on complex regulatory matters.
  • Contributing to legal know-how initiatives and helping shape best practice across the wider legal function.

About You

  • Qualified lawyer or similar qualification
  • Strong experience advising on regulatory matters within an investment bank, financial institution, or leading private practice.
  • Experience advising on derivatives, repo, and securities lending transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of EMIR, MiFID II, and broader Global Markets regulation.
  • Excellent commercial judgement and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
  • The ability to manage complex legal issues while building strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
