MASH Referral and Contact Officer

Grade 5: £35,520 - £38,379 per annum
Location: Havering Town Hall, Romford

Havering Children's Services is looking for a highly organised and motivated MASH Referral and Contact Officer to join our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), the key gateway for safeguarding and supporting children, young people and their families. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role within our Starting Well Service, ensuring referrals and enquiries are managed effectively and efficiently to help children receive the right support at the right time.

As a MASH Referral and Contact Officer, you will be the first point of contact for professionals, service users and partner agencies accessing Children’s Services. • Acting as a first point of contact for enquiries from professionals, partner agencies and members of the public.
  • Processing referrals and requests for information accurately and within statutory timescales.
  • Maintaining and quality assuring records on case management systems.
  • Managing duty phones, triaging calls and signposting contacts to appropriate services.
  • Supporting effective communication and information sharing across multi-agency partners.
  • Providing administrative support including correspondence, procurement and meeting arrangements.

You will be an organised, proactive and customer-focused professional with experience of working within Children’s Services, social care, or a similar fast-paced environment. You will have experience of processing and managing complex information using a range of ICT systems and be confident working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
