Master Agreement Negotiator
The Legal Department provides legal advisory and transactional support to all divisions of ICBC Standard. The master agreement negotiation team (the “team”) forms part of the Legal Department. Team members are responsible for putting in place a variety of documentation including ISDA, GMRA, GMSLA, FOA, give-ups and documents required from a regulatory perspective. The team is also heavily involved in various internal projects relating to documentation.
What you'll be doing
The Master Agreement Negotiator is responsible for negotiating, drafting and managing master agreements and related legal documentation to support the Bank's trading and business activities. Based within the London Legal Department on the ICBC Standard Bank trading floor, the role involves working closely with internal stakeholders and external counterparties to ensure legal, regulatory and risk requirements are appropriately addressed while facilitating the timely execution of documentation.
- Negotiating ISDA master agreement and Credit Support Annex.
- Negotiating GMRA, GMSLA, Master FX Agreements.
- Papering clients with additional documentation which is required from a regulatory perspective (e.g. for EMIR or Dodd Frank).
- Administration necessary for the role, including updates to negotiation database, archiving documents, preparing execution copies etc.
- Involvement in negotiation of other master agreements or related trading documentation as it arises (e.g. FOA Master Agreement, Exchange Traded Give-Up Agreements, brokerage agreements, electronic trading agreements).
- Negotiating non-disclosure/ confidentiality agreements.
- Involvement in various internal projects relating to documentation (including review of legal opinions on netting and collateral enforceability for all key master agreement types).

What you'll need to be successful
We're looking for the following skills and experience. If you don't have all of these but think you could be a good fit for the role, get in touch.
- Legal qualification is preferred but not required
- Experience in a negotiation team is preferred.
- Understanding of risk and control.
- Understanding of the legal concepts relevant to master agreement negotiation including netting, netting opinions, collateral opinions.
- Experience of liaising with other departments during the negotiation process and taking instructions from the business and credit.
- IT skills and an ability to carry out work in an efficient and organized manner.
- Able to keep work in progress records up to date and disseminate information with regard to executed documentation.
