Scottish Ambulance Service Recruitment

Position: Master Craftsperson (Vehicle Technician)

Location: Motherwell, Range Road, Fleet Workshop facility


Role Overview

You will be part of a highly skilled and dedicated team, reporting to the Workshop Chargehand. The successful candidate may be required to work from other Scottish Ambulance Service Workshops on occasions. This is a dayshift position from 08:00 until 16:00, Monday to Friday, with weekend on-call on a rota.

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Qualifications: Be a qualified Vehicle Technician with experience in the maintenance and repair of cars and light commercial vehicles.
  • Training: Have undertaken an automotive apprenticeship and be qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 (or comparable qualification) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Have experience operating in a demanding working environment with health and safety at the forefront of our operation.
  • Skills: Be confident in delivering a high-quality vehicle and equipment support, with a minimum of supervision, to our front-line colleagues throughout the West Region. Sound knowledge of vehicle diagnostics. Knowledge of electrical and tail lift repairs would be advantageous.
  • Communication: Familiarity with the use of the internet and email is desirable.
  • Licence: Hold a full driving license with C1 entitlement or attain C1 entitlement within 12 months of appointment (support may be available to attain this and can be discussed at interview).

Position Details

  • Hours: Full-time position working 36 hours Monday to Friday. Occasional overtime and public holiday working required. Motherwell Workshop has weekend On-call on a rota; all paid at the appropriate enhanced rate. If working at another workshop, shift patterns may vary.
