Master Data Specialist

Cumbria | Competitive Salary | Permanent

Are you an experienced SAP Master Data professional with a passion for data accuracy, process improvement, and operational excellence?

We're supporting a leading manufacturing business within the snacks and confectionery sector as they look to appoint a Master Data Specialist to their Supply Chain team. This is a key role responsible for maintaining the integrity of critical business data, ensuring SAP master data supports efficient production planning, accurate costing, effective reporting, and smooth day-to-day operations.

Working closely with Supply Chain, Production, Finance, and other key stakeholders, you'll take ownership of master data processes, support new product introductions, manage data governance activities, and play an important role in driving continuous improvement across the business.

What You'll Do

  • Create, maintain, and govern SAP master data for finished goods, materials, and customers
  • Process and manage Master Data Governance (MDG) requests in line with business controls and approval processes
  • Set up new products, including specifications, routings, production parameters, and associated master data
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), production versions, recipes, and SKUs
  • Lead and coordinate master data changes across the business
  • Implement and manage robust data quality controls, checklists, and governance procedures
  • Produce regular reporting, KPI analysis, and data-driven insights to support operational performance
  • Partner with Finance and Production teams to investigate waste, material usage, and production efficiency issues
  • Lead weekly Finished Goods review meetings
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, process optimisation, and SAP utilisation
  • Develop, maintain, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for master data processes
  • Act as the key link between multiple business functions to resolve data-related issues and improve business performance

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience working with SAP within a Master Data, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or Operations environment
  • Proven ability to manage large volumes of data with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and process control principles
  • Experience creating and maintaining product master data, BOMs, routings, or production-related data structures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and drive solutions
  • Experience working closely with cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Production, and Finance
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for reporting, analysis, and data management
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Positive attitude towards change and continuous improvement
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable Skills

  • Experience processing Master Data Governance (MDG) requests
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, packaging, food, FMCG, or production environments
  • Experience supporting new product introductions (NPI)
  • Understanding of production planning, costing, and material requirements planning (MRP)
  • Experience performing mass data updates and managing supporting data tables
  • Knowledge of SAP Plant Master Data structures
  • Experience leading process improvement or data quality initiatives
  • Familiarity with waste analysis, operational reporting, and manufacturing performance metrics
