Planning Manager

Location: Rotherham, South Yorkshire

Permanent / Contract: Permanent

Salary: Up to £55k per annum - Depending on experience

Overview

EMBS Talent is working with a well-established precision engineering manufacturer in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, currently in the market for a Planning Manager to join the business on a permanent basis.

This organisation manufactures its own raw materials on site before moving them through machining, further processing and dispatch, and has grown output significantly over the past year, with further growth planned. As part of that growth, our client is now looking for an experienced Planning Manager to lead the site's planning function and bring greater structure and stability to scheduling.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • As Planning Manager, you will lead a small planning team and act as the main link between the shop floor, sales and wider operations, ensuring customer demand is translated into realistic, achievable production plans.
  • Lead the development and execution of the master production schedule
  • Translate customer demand into achievable manufacturing plans
  • Ensure production schedules align with available labour, machinery and material resources
  • Manage changes in customer demand and adjust plans quickly to protect delivery commitments
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly planning guidance to operational teams
  • Establish planning priorities that balance customer satisfaction with plant efficiency
  • Support the coordination of the site's Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process
  • Lead, develop and support a small planning team, building a collaborative working culture

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
