Job Title: Material Handler

Location: Birmingham, Curdworth
Salary: £13.20 per hour during training (£26,082 pa) + Shift Allowance
Salary Once trained: £14.07 per hour + Shift Allowance
Position Type: Full-time | Permanent | 38 Hours per Week

Pertemps are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business for an experienced Material Handler to join their logistics and warehouse team. Shift Pattern

This role operates on a weekly rotating shift pattern:

AM Shift
Monday to Thursday: 6:00am - 2:00pm
Friday: 6:00am - 12:00pm
Shift Premium: 7.5%

PM Shift
Monday to Thursday: 2:00pm - 10:00pm
Friday: 12:00pm - 6:00pm
Shift Premium: 20%

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the flow of materials to production, ensuring materials are supplied accurately and on time.
  • Load and unload deliveries and materials safely and efficiently.
  • Process goods receipts, stock movements, and material issues using SAP/ERP systems.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare materials and finished goods for dispatch.
  • Transfer stock between warehouse locations and production areas.
  • Ensure all stock is correctly identified, stored, and rotated.
  • Conduct regular stock checks and inventory activities.
  • Complete all warehouse transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure shipping and dispatch documentation is completed correctly.
  • Support internal departments with material deliveries and collections.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in line with 5S principles.
  • Assist with hazardous waste movements where required.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.
  • Experience covering goods inward, despatch, stock movements, and material handling.
  • Valid FLT licences including:
    • Counterbalance
    • Flexi
    • Multi-Directional
  • Experience using computerised stock management systems, ideally SAP or ERP systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
  • Good understanding of warehouse health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of Excel and warehouse management processes.
