Scope Of Position
We are seeking an experienced Material Handler to join our operations team. In this role, you will support shipping and receiving in the yard, including loading and unloading trucks, managing inventory control processes, and performing quality checks on outgoing and returned materials. You will operate a diesel-powered counterbalance forklift to move, stack, and organize inventory in outdoor conditions. Success in the role requires timely order fulfillment, willingness to assist during busy periods, and strong teamwork.
What You'll Do On a Typical Day
- Participate in shipping and receiving operations, including:
- Loading and unloading trucks.
- Checking for overages, damages, and shortages.
- Picking orders and repackaging returned materials.
- Operating a counterbalance forklift to pick orders and prepare outgoing shipments.
- Maintain pedestrian safety while operating machinery.
- Support cycle counts and inventory control processes.
- Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Actively participate in Health & Safety meetings and demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Comply with all PERI policies, procedures, and provincial Health & Safety standards.
- Follow working procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, and accidents.
- Take responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others.
- Other related duties as assigned.

What You'll Need To Be Successful
- Must have a valid forklift license from a recognized and accredited Canadian training program or school.
- Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in the safe operation of a counterbalance forklift.
- Previous experience organizing material in an outdoor environment is preferred.
- Experience operating a diesel-powered counterbalance forklift with capacities up to 15,000 pounds/ 7,000 kilograms is preferred.
- Ability to handle both large and small parts for material preparation and movement.
- Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and count parts manually.
- Dedication to promoting and maintaining the highest standard of workplace Health & Safety.
- Ability to lift up to 11 kg (25 lbs) regularly and up to 23 kg (50 lbs) occasionally.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 8.75 hours per day.
- Ability to sit and operate a forklift for extended periods as required.
- Work is performed outdoors year-round.
- Regular exposure to dust, dirt, and grime.
- Constant exposure to forklift and transport truck traffic.
- Availability to work overtime during weekdays and weekends when required.
- Must wear the personal protective equipment required in work areas.
