Material Handler

As a Material Handler you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and control of materials within a warehouse, manufacturing facility, or distribution center. The role ensures that materials and products are received, stored, issued, and transported accurately to support operational requirements and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and shipments against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
  • Store materials in designated locations following inventory control procedures.
  • Pick, pack, and issue materials to production.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet trucks, and lifting devices safely and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Conduct stock counts and participate in cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Ensure materials are correctly labelled, identified, and traceable.
  • Load and unload vehicles while complying with safety regulations.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure work areas remain clean and organized.
  • Report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, and safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance warehouse efficiency and accuracy.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or material control environments.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and stock control processes.
  • Ability to operate forklifts desirable but not essential.
  • Good numerical and record-keeping skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP/WMS/Oracle systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and quality requirements.
