Material Handling Operative

Are you excited by the opportunity to develop your skills, receiving structured training to operate a range of specialist plant and equipment and opportunities to progress your career? Do you want to work for one of the UK's leading Port operators as part of a strong and supportive team? We are seeking a Material Handling Operative to join our Bulk Operations team and help keep the world moving!

Your Role

You will operate the company’s plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner, supporting the handling of bulk products across the terminal, ensuring activities are completed safely, accurately and on time. You will inspect company plant and equipment for damage, reporting any incidents, accidents or dangerous occurrences without delay. You will also clean company plant and equipment to include all wheeled assets and material handling equipment within the facility.

This is a multi-functional role predominantly in one area with a requirement to apply our skills across other bulk terminals dependant on experience, training, business need and demand.

This role is classified as safety critical. Your duties in this role may include driving on site; working at height and/or in confined spaces; operating/driving plant; manual handling; lone working; night work. If successful in your application, you will be required to attend a pre-placement medical assessment to confirm your fitness for work in this role.

What you’ll bring

  • Previous experience of working within an industrial bulk handling environment.
  • A full valid driving licence
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working as part of a team;
  • Able to multi-task and prioritise workload effectively, and adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment
