Material Handling Operative

Are you excited by the opportunity to develop your skills and work on a range of plant and machinery? Do you want to work for one of the UK's leading shipping and freight forwarding companies? We are seeking a Material Handling Operative to join our Peel Ports Logistics team and help keep the world moving!

Your Role

This is a varied role where you will have the opportunity to work on multiple operations across the site, operating the company’s plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in line with safe systems of work. You will clean company plant and equipment, ensuring that all checks, audits, and other paperwork are completed accurately and on time. You proactively look for hazards, recording and actioning immediately and as safely as possible within H&S systems.

You will build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with various external parties such as vessel crew and agents, as well as internal teams, communicating with engineering departments over fault rectification. You will ensure all health and safety rules are followed whilst adhering to TASCC regulations.

What you’ll bring

  • Have experience in an industrial or operational environment, ideally port operations;
  • Have experience working with heavy plant and machinery, ideally including crane operations;
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills, along with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload effectively and be adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment;
  • Have a commitment to maintaining Health and Safety standards, as well as demonstrating compliance to safety policies and procedures;
  • A full valid driving licence is essential for this role
