Job Description: Material Planner

Purpose

To be the day-to-day face of the Supply Chain team with suppliers, ensuring purchase orders are communicated, confirmed, accurately processed and delivered on time.

The role will take ownership of the purchase order from the point it is sent to the supplier through to delivery and invoice resolution, maintaining clear communication with suppliers, Logistics and the wider business.

Responsibilities / Key Deliverables

  • Send purchase orders to suppliers and ensure all required information is provided.
  • Ensure purchase orders are confirmed within 48 hours, process confirmations in the MRP system and maintain accurate delivery dates.
  • Chase overdue order confirmations and supplier deliveries.
  • Maintain visibility of all open purchase orders and take action to keep deliveries on track
  • Hold weekly review meetings with key suppliers to keep orders on track and resolve any supply risks.
  • Update shortage notes and recovery actions in the MRP system to ensure visibility of supplier delays and customer order risks.
  • Gather shipment information for upcoming deliveries and provide Logistics with the information required to book inbound transport.
  • Resolve supplier invoice queries and discrepancies.
  • Build strong day-to-day relationships with suppliers and act as a key point of contact.
  • Maintain accurate supplier, order and delivery information within the MRP system.
  • Support improvements to supplier communication, order management and supply chain processes.

  • Strong supplier communication and relationship management skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple open orders and priorities.

Dimensions of Role

Based at the NaughtOne Birstall site, this is a full-time permanent position within the Supply Chain and Planning Team.

The role reports to the Supply Chain & Planning Manager and works closely with suppliers, Logistics, Production, Finance, Customer Experience and other operational teams.

The Material Planner is responsible for managing supplier purchase orders, maintaining accurate order information within the MRP system and supporting material availability for production and customer orders.
