Materials Planner
As a Materials Planner on a 12-month fixed-term contract based at our Wrexham Plant, you will help ensure that non-bulk raw materials and non-SAP inventory items are ordered, delivered, and available to meet the production schedule. Reporting to the Scheduling Manager, you will work closely with Scheduling, Inbound Logistics, Stock Control, and Shift Management, while acting as a key contact for suppliers.
You will balance material availability with maintaining the minimum required stock levels, helping to prevent production disruption and unnecessary costs. The role also provides regular contact with European Procurement and global suppliers, with some infrequent European travel potentially required.
A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing
- Plan Material Requirements – Order ingredients and materials using just-in-time principles, ensuring they are available to meet production schedule requirements.
- Manage Inventory Levels – Regularly review material inventory, arrange stock checks, and reorder when required, including managing stock reductions when products are delisted.
- Coordinate Deliveries – Book deliveries onto site, monitor overdue planned deliveries, and work with suppliers to address underperformance or potential supply issues.
- Maintain Purchase Orders – Manage SAP purchase orders and material contracts, ensuring contracted volumes are called off and outstanding balances from time-based contracts are closed.
- Support Scheduling and Finance – Attend daily scheduling meetings, respond to schedule changes, raise ad hoc requisitions, and provide information to resolve invoice queries and prevent blocked invoices caused by incorrect plant receipts.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
