Anthrotek is a fast-growing start-up specializing in hyper-realistic silicone solutions. Our products include artificial skin, faces, organs and body parts, serving the medical industry with synthetic surrogates for testing, training and validation. We blend cutting-edge material science (silicone, soft materials) with precision engineering and the latest 3D and AI technologies.
We are currently seeking a talented and motivated multidisciplinary Material Scientist / Senior Material Scientist to join our dynamic team on a 9-months fixed-term contract. The (Senior) Material Scientist will lead the formulation of hydrogels and ionogels and their mechanical testing (tensile, rheology).
These new materials will open the door to a new generation of anatomical models that can be used by medical devices manufacturers or surgeons to practice procedures, thus enhancing training experiences for medical professionals.

The position is onsite only, and must start on November 1st, 2026 (due to grant requirements).
Key Responsibilities
- Formulation of hydrogel and ionogels.
- Rheological and mechanical (tensile) testing of the resulting gels.
- Participate in start to end project management, including resource and time estimation, sourcing, drafting updates and product validation.
- Work with communication protocols to ensure seamless data transmission.
- As part of a small, highly collaborative team, you’ll work across disciplines to support R&D, prototyping, and iterative problem-solving.
Required
- A degree (MSc or equivalent minimum) in material science, chemistry or equivalent.
- At least 1-2 years experience with hydrogel and/or ionogel formulation.
- Solid understanding of rheology and tensile measurements.
- Proven Experience of Project Management Skills.
- Ability to work independently and autonomously.

What We Offer
- Initial salary ranging from £30,000 to £50,000 per year (full-time basis) depending on experience.
