Material Scientist (Maternity Cover – 6 Months) Eurofins PSS Managed Scientist
- Site: Bristol Myers Squibb Moreton facility (Wirral)
- hours: 35 hours/week (flexible), between 07:00–19:00
- contract type: Full-time, maternity cover position

Role & Responsibilities
Your mission as a Eurofins Managed Material Scientist is to deliver precise analyses of pharmaceutical raw materials, drug substances, and finished products—under an off-site compliance framework.
Key Tasks:
- Perform routine & non-routine testing using both traditional and modern techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, UV spectroscopy, dissolution batteries, Karl Fischer titration) to support development studies.
- Oversee scientific materials: manage receipt, storage, dispensing, and disposal within the Development Sample Store while upholding GMP standards.
- Implement new equipment smoothly and effectively in the lab area.
- Collaborate with third parties—provide protocol feedback, summarise technical data, and offer interpretations in alignment with key deadlines.
- Lead with initiative: troubleshoot analytical sciences, adapt quickly to process changes, share expertise, and drive improvement—always nurturing internal relationships while maintaining independence.
- Engage with stakeholders clearly, update documentation meticulously, and produce presentations as required.

Requirements
Education & Competency:
- Degree in Pharmacy, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry, with a robust grasp of foundational chemical principles.
- Pharmaceutical analytic experience: most preferably gained in a development laboratory environment.
Technical Skills & GMP Knowledge:
- Hands-on experience of traditional and modern instrumentation: HPLC, GC, UV spectroscopy (e.g., dissolution, UV-VIS), and Karl Fischer titration methods.
- A solid cross-sectional understanding of chromatographic methodologies.
- Proficiency in documenting projects following Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and analytical integrity.
IQ & Mindset:
- Deep familiarity with the pharmaceutical development and production lifecycle.
- Business-oriented communication: deliver clear technical presentations.
- Flexibly manages shifting priorities—with an attitude unwavering in improvement and proactivity.
