About the Role
The Packaging Co-ordinator / Master Data Controller provides the operational control and data integrity required between materials planning and physical intake. The role owns routine reconciliations, packaging master data, BOM accuracy, variance investigation and audit evidence, ensuring that physical packaging and tray movements are accurately reflected in company systems.
Working in support of the Packaging Materials Planner, the role protects production continuity, reduces adjustments and write-offs, and strengthens compliance. The Materials Planner retains accountability for forward planning, supplier requirements and overall materials availability.
Responsibilities
- Complete accurate packaging, tray and returnable-equipment reconciliations, investigating and resolving stock discrepancies promptly.
- Monitor packaging stock integrity and availability, proactively identifying shortages, unrecorded movements and potential risks to production.
- Support stock counts and period-end controls, ensuring all adjustments are appropriately evidenced, authorised and accurately recorded.
- Create, maintain and validate packaging master data and Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring system information remains accurate and aligned with approved specifications.
- Coordinate master data and BOM changes, completing regular data-quality checks and resolving inaccurate, duplicate or obsolete records.
- Investigate packaging and tray variances, identifying root causes and coordinating corrective actions to prevent recurrence and minimise loss.
- Analyse stock adjustments, usage and write-off trends to identify control issues, risks and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate control records, processes and audit trails, supporting internal, customer and external audit requirements.
- Work closely with Packaging Intake, Planning, Production, Technical, Finance and Systems teams to resolve issues and maintain smooth factory operations.
- Provide operational support and cover for critical packaging-control activities, helping to ensure continuity, accuracy and packaging availability during peak periods, absence and project activity.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
