Material Controller
Location: Goodwood, West Sussex
Working Pattern: Onsite 5 days per week initially (approximately 3 months), transitioning to a hybrid model with 2-3 days per week onsite.

About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Material Controller, Material Planner or Supply Chain professional to join our client in Goodwood.
Working within a premium automotive manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for ensuring materials are available to support uninterrupted vehicle production. You'll work closely with suppliers, production teams and logistics colleagues to manage material availability, supplier performance, inventory levels and engineering changes.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys planning, problem-solving, stakeholder engagement and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the timely supply of materials to support vehicle production.
- Monitor inbound deliveries and provide updates to management.
- Ensure stock days of supply and material availability targets are achieved.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure delivery performance requirements are met.
- Escalate and resolve supply chain issues before they impact production.
- Maintain accurate material and supply chain data within internal systems.
- Manage Engineering Change Packets (ECPs) in line with required deadlines.
- Support engineering changes whilst minimising run-out costs.
- Drive improvements in Lineside Delivery Performance (LDP) across all process partners.
- Produce weekly supplier performance reports and ratings.
- Collaborate with production, logistics and wider business teams to support manufacturing requirements.

Key Challenges
The key challenge in this role is maintaining material availability when things do not go to plan. Supplier delays, changes in production demand, engineering updates and fluctuating stock levels can all impact manufacturing operations.
You will need to identify risks early, coordinate with the right stakeholders and implement effective solutions to ensure production continues to run smoothly.

- Is highly organised with strong planning and prioritisation skills.
- Can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Is confident communicating with suppliers and stakeholders at all levels.
- Enjoys working with data, spreadsheets and supply chain systems.
- Works collaboratively and builds strong working relationships.
- Has strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.

Skills & Experience
- Experience within Material Control, Material Planning, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related manufacturing environment.
- Experience of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and/or BMW Material Control processes and systems would be highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Microsoft Copilot.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong time management, prioritisation and organisational skills.
- A collaborative team-oriented approach.
