Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Materials Executive role based in Essex. The Materials Executive will manage the end-to-end process of materials planning and procurement, including raising and tracking purchase orders, coordinating deliveries, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The role involves supporting production planning activities, ensuring materials availability for maintenance and operational schedules, and liaising with suppliers, internal teams, and logistics partners. Daily responsibilities include analyzing materials requirements, resolving shortages or delays, optimizing stock levels, and contributing to cost-effective sourcing decisions. The Materials Executive will also support continuous improvement initiatives and uphold GAMIT’s standards for quality, compliance, and customer service.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Aircraft Materials Sales & Purchasing Executive to join our Materials & Logistics team.
You will be a key point of contact for the procurement and sale of aircraft spare parts, supporting aircraft undergoing both heavy and line maintenance. The role requires excellent communication, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving aviation environment where service, quality, and delivery performance are critical.

You will manage activities across purchasing, sales, repairs, exchanges, and logistics while developing strong relationships with customers, suppliers, repair vendors, and colleagues across the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure aircraft components, consumables, and materials to support aircraft maintenance requirements, ensuring the appropriate balance of availability, quality, lead time, and cost.
- Manage customer enquiries and identify suitable material solutions, including outright sale, exchange, loan, and repair options.
- Prepare and process Purchase Requests, Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, Exchange Orders, and Repair Orders in accordance with company procedures.
- Source aircraft parts and services through approved suppliers and repair organizations.
- Negotiate effectively with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, lead times, warranty terms, and commercial conditions.
- Expedite open purchase and repair orders to achieve required delivery dates and maintain customers informed of progress.
- Provide responsive support for AOG (Aircraft on Ground) requirements and participate in the departmental AOG rota.
- Manage urgent requirements calmly and effectively, identifying alternative supply solutions where necessary to minimize aircraft downtime.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with customers, suppliers, MROs, repair vendors, and other aviation partners worldwide.
- Evaluate potential suppliers and ensure sourcing is undertaken in accordance with company quality requirements and approved industry standards.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and shipping agents when required to ensure materials are delivered safely and on schedule.
- Monitor shipments and assist with the resolution of transportation, customs, and delivery issues where necessary.
- Maintain accurate commercial and operational records throughout the purchasing, sales, exchange, and repair process.
- Liaise with the Accounts and Finance teams regarding invoicing, pricing, credits, and other commercial queries.
- Follow up with customers regarding service levels and customer satisfaction when required.
- Understand and comply with relevant Export Control requirements and other applicable regulatory obligations.
- Work in accordance with Gamit Limited's established processes and procedures.
- Operate within the company's ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 management systems and actively contribute to continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Materials, Logistics, Finance, Administration, Accounts, and customer support functions, including liaison with AMAC Aerospace Basel where required.
- Provide support and cover for other members of the department during periods of high workload, absence, or urgent operational requirements.
- Undertake other reasonable duties requested by management in support of the department and wider business.

Qualifications
- GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.
- Aerospace, aviation, procurement, supply-chain, or other relevant professional qualifications would be advantageous.
- Awareness or experience of working within ISO 9001 and/or ISO 27001 management systems would be beneficial.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Valid passport and ability to travel where required.
Training & Development
Role-specific and on-the-job training will be provided by experienced members of the Gamit team. The successful candidate will be expected to continue developing their technical knowledge of aircraft materials, commercial processes, customers, suppliers, and Gamit's quality and information-security management systems.
