Job Specification: Forecasting and Demand Planning

Location: Goole

Duration: Ongoing temp

£16.36 2026 rate

40 hours per week

Flexible hours (some current team members do 8-4, can look at 9-5 etc)

Project Description

The role will support the development and ongoing maintenance of all processes relating to forecasting and demand planning. The successful candidate will help ensure material demand is accurately forecast, planned, validated, and controlled to support operational delivery and overhaul requirements.

The candidate will work closely with other forecasters, material controllers, operational contacts, project managers, and overhaul managers to ensure material plans are aligned, risks are identified early, and issues are escalated and resolved effectively.

The candidate will be part of improving and maintaining robust forecasting and demand planning processes, helping the team to manage material availability, support planned overhaul activity, and deliver controlled releases of material in line with business needs.

Team Structure

The role will operate as part of a wider planning and operational support network, liaising with forecasters, material controllers, operational stakeholders, project managers, and overhaul managers. Further detail on team size and reporting structure can be added once confirmed.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Forecast and plan material orders by reviewing consumption rates, trends, and any abnormalities.
  • Analyse, validate, and record material forecast data to support accurate planning decisions.
  • Maintain planning schedules and support overhaul requirements.
  • Ensure the controlled release of material in line with agreed plans and operational needs.
  • Control delivery plans and associated purchase requests.
  • Escalate issues where necessary, complete root cause analysis, and support effective resolution.
  • Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders to maintain alignment across forecasting, material control, operations, projects, and overhaul activity.

Required Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in forecasting, demand planning, or a similar planning-focused role within any industry.
  • Experience using forecasting or planning systems; Syncron experience would be relevant, although training can be provided.
  • Strong data analysis skills with excellent numeracy.
  • Good IT literacy and confidence working with planning data.
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles.
  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify, escalate, and help resolve issues.

Desirable

  • Experience using Syncron or another forecasting and planning system.
  • Power BI experience or exposure to reporting and dashboard tools.
  • Experience working in a materials, inventory, operational planning, or overhaul environment.
