TEACHER OF MATHEMATICS – YEARS 7 TO 11

Overstone Park School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Mathematics with SEND experience to teach pupils in Years 7 to 11 within our specialist provision.

We are looking for a teacher who can combine strong Mathematics teaching with an understanding of the individual learning, communication and emotional needs of pupils with SEND.

THE ROLE

  • Teach Mathematics to pupils in Years 7 to 11.
  • Plan and deliver structured, engaging and appropriately challenging Mathematics lessons.
  • Differentiate teaching for pupils with a range of SEND needs, including autism, social communication needs and SEMH needs.
  • Prepare pupils for GCSE Mathematics and, where appropriate, Functional Skills and Entry Level Mathematics.
  • Use assessment effectively to identify starting points, gaps in learning, progress and next steps.
  • Support pupils to develop mathematical fluency, reasoning, problem-solving and practical numeracy skills.
  • Implement relevant EHCP provision and contribute evidence to pupil progress reviews and annual reviews.
  • Use structured and visual approaches, including TEACCH-informed strategies where appropriate.
  • Work effectively with mentors, support staff and other professionals.
  • Maintain high expectations for learning, behaviour, independence and personal development.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  • Has strong Mathematics subject knowledge.
  • Has experience teaching Mathematics to pupils in Years 7 to 11.
  • Has experience working with pupils with SEND.
  • Can differentiate Mathematics effectively for pupils working at different levels and from different starting points.
  • Understands the importance of structure, routine, clear communication and positive behaviour support.
  • Can assess and record pupil progress accurately.
  • Can build positive professional relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues and other professionals.
  • Is organised, reliable, resilient and committed to high-quality teaching.
  • Places safeguarding and pupil welfare at the centre of their professional practice.
