About Better Life Tuition
Better Life Tuition works with families whose children are studying GCSE and A-Level Maths and Science. Most of the students we support are capable, hardworking young people who have hit a wall: a disappointing mock, a set of results that didn't match expectations, or a slow loss of confidence that nobody quite noticed until it showed up in their grades.
We don't just teach the subject. We help students understand why things are going wrong, rebuild their confidence, and take ownership of how they learn. The aim is a student who leaves with tools that lift their performance across every subject, not only the one we taught.
The Role
We're looking for a Maths Mentor to work one-to-one with GCSE and A-Level students. You'll teach the content, but just as importantly you'll help each student build the habits, self-awareness and independence that make progress stick.

What You'll Do
- Deliver one-to-one Maths sessions at GCSE and A-Level, tailored to each student's gaps and exam board
- Diagnose where a student is struggling, which is often not where they or their parents think it is
- Help students develop consistent study routines, exam technique and the confidence to tackle problems on their own
- Communicate clearly with parents about progress, focusing on changes in approach and behaviour as well as marks
- Work within Better Life Tuition's mentoring approach and contribute to how we keep improving it.
What We're Looking For
- Strong subject knowledge in Maths to A-Level standard (a degree in Maths or a related field is an advantage)
- Experience teaching, tutoring or mentoring young people
- Patience and genuine curiosity about why a student is stuck, not just what they got wrong
- The ability to build trust quickly with teenagers who may have lost faith in themselves or in school
- Clear, calm communication with parents

Nice to Have
- Familiarity with AQA, Edexcel and OCR specifications
- Experience supporting students through exam pressure or after setbacks
- Interest in wellbeing, motivation or learning psychology
